Backlog #2: I was having a really bad day and close to tears for the entire day when my friend made me this cup of tea and brought it to our class we have together. So sweet of her!

I have had the Samurai Chai mate before and I didn’t think it was that bad, so I was a little hesitant to try it. The smell won me over. It smelled so good and warmed me right up. Then the taste was fantastic! It had just enough spice from the two chais to make me happy and enough kick from the mate to make my mind happy and relaxed. If I don’t get anything else from Teavana, I need to get these two teas to be my comfort blend.

Thank you Jordanne.

This is the only tea that calls me back to Teavana.

The cinnamon is just lovely. Though it tends to over power the other spices. I like the hint of pineapple I get.

An excellent tea to wake up with.

Absolutely love these two chai’s together. They blend so well with a perfect taste. Just enough spice. I always make two servings because I love it so much. Therefore, I let it steep longer. I found it taste a lot better with these two chai’s if you have the steep time at least 8 minutes. Such a delicious taste.

I have been drinking this tea now for a week and I just love it. The way the two teas blend is awesome. I love the way the tea smells and it has a wonderful cinnamon and spicy taste. I will be a drinker of this tea for a long time.

Mate is a lot of caffeine… I think it’s the same as a cup of coffee so you’re having about a half of a cup of coffee in this blend. Don’t drink at night! ;) Glad you’re liking it.

Oh maybe thats why this tea is such a good pick me up in the morning. I’ve replaced my morning coffee with this tea. Thanks for the heads up because I didn’t know that.

Got a free sample of this with my teavana order…it came with the sugar and all. I think it was personally too sweet but if it didn’t have rock sugar it would be okay. Maybe I’ll resteep this and try it more au naturel. :)

I live in NJ and just tried Teavana’s products. LOVE the products, can’t stand the sales people. They work on commission so push the higher priced teas like herbal tea drug dealers. They were very rude when I wanted to buy a cup of tea rather then loose tea. I do not intend on going back but I LOVE the tea. Does anyone know where I can find a tea like this or even bland my own?

Hi- I just had a similar experience at a Teavana in NJ today too! I just wanted to let you know about adagio teas. I found them shortly after being pushed and pushed into buying too much tea at Teavana a few years ago. They are a really great company and you can even blend your own tea blends if you want to! Also, if you are a first time buyer, they give out a $5 gift certificate I think. Hope you have had better tea experiences other than Teavana, their sales people are just agitating. :)

Ashley, After falling in love with this blend I did some research on steepster and found that Harney and Sons Green Hot Cinnamon Spice is similar but it is a little bit more cinnamony than the Teavana. I will say that I like the Green Hot Cinnamon NOW more than the teavana blend.

KeenTeaThyme

I completely agree – I love this tea but I dislike Teavana and its associates. Shipping is an option but the tea itself is so expensive. Thanks for the Harney and Sons recommendation; I’m searching for the Web site now. :)

I didn’t care for this at all….I’ve heard others rave about this combo, but for me it was sort of gross.

simply put, this tea is fantastic. my one complaint would be that you have to have your water very very hot to bring all the flavours out of this one, but if you do it right then you’ve got a nice tea on your hands. The chai flavour is untraditional, but still blends nicely with the white tea and spices. i think if it were a traditional chai, then it would over power the white tea so it was probably a good move. also the spices are perfectly balanced. just enough of each one that you are able to tastes all the cinnamon, cardamom, all spice and florals to equal degrees but also taste the robustness of the mate leaves. a great one for sure with a tea spoon of sugar and a squeeze of honey.

So, I have a (somewhat) funny story about this tea.

Lately, I’ve been spending most of my money on Teavana and tea gifts alike. My mom knows about this new addiction, and she always criticizes me on how much I’m spending. Anyway, she went to the mall the other day, tried a sample of tea without realizing that she was walking into Teavana, and she happened to buy this blend as well as some German rock sugar! She finally realized what had happened, and she called me right away to tell me about it. I just thought it was pretty ironic; she absolutely LOVED this sample.

I didn’t get to try the sample when I visited, but I’d heard great things about it so I decided to give it a try today (seeing as I have to leave in a couple hours for some errands and the mate just might wake me up ;)).

This blend smells amazing when it’s brewed; the scent kind of reminds me of Christmas! The spices are very strong, and I could definitely smell cinnamon.

The first sip was iffy – although it was pretty hot, so I blame that. Now that I’ve sipped multiple times, it tastes delicious! It doesn’t taste as spicy as it smells, which is good if you don’t like overwhelming cinnamon in your tea. I added a little German rock sugar, too, and I think it’s just perfect.

EDIT: I’m on my second brew, and I realized I hadn’t added enough tea leaves for two cups! Silly me. I also added a teaspoon of regular honey and a little more rock sugar, and I love it even more now! The rock sugar definitely brings out a few more flavors than I tasted before, and adding the right amount of leaves helped as well. ;) Bumped up the rating!
