From Teavana

Fragrant as a Parisian patisserie on a Sunday morning, this sweet, baby pink infusion is an herbal cup ideal for cloud gazing the day away. Fluffy mini marshmallows float on a dreamy cloud of apple, raisin, sweet papaya, and toasted coconut swirls. True confection perfection.

They should have really called this Lucky Charms, but I suppose that would have breached some sort of trademark because that is exactly how this smells!

I stupidly got an ounce of this for a Starbucks Reward when it was on sale so it probably would have been more cost effective to just get myself a pricey Starbucks drink; I’ve since learned my lesson and have my sights on some of the more ridiculous priced Teavana teas in the future.

Anyway, what surprised me was how deep of a red this brewed up as. I added sweetener just in case it turned out sour, but you could probably do without. This is super creamy and marshmallow-y so I can see it being a good mixer. I’m actually enjoying my mug of it since it’s a hot beverage and I just drove home in the snow of all things (in April)!

Either way, I’d certainly pick some more of this up in the future. Just not for the moment since I am absolutely swimming in teas!

2 “perfect teaspoons” (more like 3tsp)

I was going to do the same with my Starbucks Reward, but decided to use the Reward for another sample of the Jasmine Silver Needle and just buy this one myself. Definitely a bigger bang for my buck! I haven’t tried it yet, but I am very much looking forward to it!

SUPER sweet. I thought this was going to be a favorite, but after 4 cups, I am done. It is absolutely yummy, but not an everyday tea. I still have 3oz. left so if anyone would like to trade, let me know.

It’s basically like drinking a marshmallow. I am going to “recommend” it, but use caution. A small sample is more than enough.

I’ve heard that a lot. Probably going to pick it up anyway and give it a try, but we shall see. Definitely going to get a small amount when I do.

This tea gave me a headache, it was so sweet. I had a cup brewed for me in store without anything in it (after smelling it, I figured additional sweeteners were just asking for diabetes). The flavours were certainly interesting, and I give Teavana props for trying to do something completely out of the box. It just wasn’t for me.
If I was to make this at home, I’d use half of the tea.

The problem with all teas with aspirations of replicating the marvellous macaron is that this heavenly patisserie comes in a multitude of flavours that range from rosewater to creme brule (so North American, right?).

Stripped to its bare bones, the main compositional notes of a macaron are almond, vanilla, and cream. On their own, these notes can be bland; with a green or black base , they will likely be overpowered. A white tea may work but altogether, the flavours just seem “meah”.

As for Teavana’s take on the macaron? Where’s the tea? Bland, boring, utterly forgettable. With a couple of drops of Stevia and a dash of milk, you have nothing but sugared water. Not my cup of tea. Returned my package for a refund.

Now, my ideal incarnation of the dessert in tea form would be one inspired by Laduree’s orange blossom macaron: sweet, floral, creamy, and more importantly NOT to sharp and citrusy. Any recommendations?

What a difference steeping method can make with a tea! I brewed this hot the day I got it and found it was too strong and almost sour, and not in a good way. Not one to give up until I have explored all my options, I tossed a scoop in the fridge yesterday to cold steep. Granted, I may have underleafed just a tiny bit, but, still, this is so much better! The guava really pops, but not in a harsh way. I get a mildly fruity, refreshing iced tea that is far sweeter and pleasant than the tea brewed hot. I am far, far more impressed. This is a tea I could grow to love this summer!

This is the weirdest freakin’ tea I’ve ever tried.
I got this iced out of my curiosity, and it was mind-blowingly sweet and truly tasted like a liquid lucky charms marshmallow. Not for me.

LOL. Amusing. The one tea that I expected to like the least, is the one that I like the most. At least so far.
Dry smell: For some reason everytime I smell this dry…it turns me off. I almost didn’t get it at the store, but I knew I would kick myself if I didn’t. Almost always in that if you don’t like the smell your not going to like the taste, but this tea reminds me that is not always true.
It smells super sweet but there is this weird after smell that is kind of rank.

Taste: Heavy sweet, but not overly sweet. After taste is kind of citrus-y. I’ll have to remember to have this at Easter, because with this I’ll be able to curb myself from eating to much Easter candy.

This would also be the perfect tea in a little girls tea party. Oh drat…that just made me think of the miniature tea set that I’ve been mooning over at a local shop. Giggles

I suspect this will taste nice cold.

A very unique “tea” experience. I’ve never had a Macaron, so I can’t speak to that, but they nailed the marshmallow essence. Have you ever had Ambrosia? -That marshmallow fruit salad? In my opinion, this is the liquid form of that dessert…
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really liked it. I tried it hot and clear to start (always when trying new teas) and decided to add a teaspoon of sugar. I enjoyed it more slightly sweetened. I think this may be an acquired taste. It is so unique that I anticipate strong reactions to it. Personally, I’m a fan.

When I walked in to Teavana yesterday one of the associates was trying this with Youthberry which might be a good way to go.

By itself, it’s too weird. It’s so subtle and just straight up SWEET. It’s kind of like drinking a rice krispies treat.

The tea is mostly made up of apple pieces and other fruit and I’m not sure really what is supposed to be macaron about this. but I figured I would mix it with some other floral/fruity teas to be sort of like the Dammann Freres macaron teas.

So next I tried it with that strawberry champagne rose or whatever they’re calling it now, which was slightly better. It really had the color of rose, but it was still too light and too sweet. I did a 50/50 mix so maybe I’ll go heavier on the other tea next time.

It’s certainly interesting, maybe it’s better cold, given its ingredients? I’m not much of a fan of fruit teas like this hot.

Hello.Kiki

I didn’t really care for this hot or cold. such a bummer :(

I got this and blended it with the pinapple Kona, cold. Pretty damn yummy if you ask me. I’d buy some if I caught a sale, but I’ve already got plenty of marshmellow teas around the house to hold me over.
