Hibiscus. Why teavana? It doesn’t need it. I can taste, the chocolate hints, while the oolong hides just behind it. It’s been awhile since I’ve had any mate so I’m not picking it up as easily but i know the flavor and its there somewhere.

First tea to try in a swap box I just got. At first, I really tasted the berry flavor! Wow…that must be what an elderberry tastes like! At the back is a chocolate flavor…I’d have to say a weak dark chocolate.

As I keep drinking it, the berry flavor is subsiding. I’m not sure I’m tasting any tea base. It’s not a bad tea, but not sure I’d buy it over and over, either.

I never thought I would see the day where I couldn’t bring myself to finish the cup of tea… I was totally repulsed by this blend. Typically, if it was a matter of the blend simply being “not my cup of tea,” I would give it a passing rating, but still low to reflect my opinion. This blend doesn’t even deserve a pass.
Why? It is a LOVELY-sounding Oolong that brought me great disappointment… Regardless of how it was steeped, it kept coming out tart and very rough on the palate. It tasted like sour berries, with no chocolate at all.
Very disappointing.

I’ve been curious about this tea, if only because of the name, what in the world is a wonderberry? This certainly has berry flavor to it, after looking at the ingredient list I was a bit surprised to see just how many types of berries it actually contains. The strongest of the bunch ended up being elderberry although the currant stands out as well, I had trouble distinguishing the others. Overall I thought this tea was a bit flat, that is until I added some of teavana’s rock sugar, it really needs the sugar to round out the flavors and make the chocolate pop. I think this would make a pretty good tea latte, but sadly I’m still out of milk.

I picked up 100g of this at 75% off at Teavana today, thinking I might like this more so than the others I purchased in smaller amounts. The barista there was actually pushing me to get several hundred grams of each of the 7 teas I purchased since the prices were so low and the teas will not be returning once gone. I’m glad I resisted – if I don’t like something I won’t be kicking myself for not spending my money at Davids instead.

So I brewed myself a cup and took a sip…immediately the berry flavor smacks you in the face. I want to say it goes well with the dark chocolate, but it’s just so overbearing! Towards the end of the cup it started to taste bitter, cloying and vile.

This tea definitely needs to be sweetened to be drinkable. Kinda wish I got only 50g now, but I’ll finish it eventually. It’s not THAT bad.

Mmmm…berry good :) I taste mostly raspberries, but there are strong hints of cocoa as well. It has a great smell. I sweetened it with some of Teavana’s rock sugar, which is good, but I’ll be looking for a cheaper source in the future. When hot, this tea had a stronger cocoa flavor. As it cools, I’m tasting more berry notes. I’m starting to taste the hibiscus, which for me is not unpleasant. But, on a day when I really want a cocoa flavor, I would need to drink this hot. Overall, I’ll be rebuying this when it is on sale. I’m haven’t resteeped it yet, I’m excited to try that and I will post again once I’ve done it.
Steep #2: I left the tea bag in my 20 oz cup all morning, and refreshed it probably too soon. I still had quite a bit of cold tea in my cup, so the 2nd cup was pretty dismal. I will retry this in a tea pot where I don’t let the leaves stew. I think then I might get two decent steepings out of it. But, there is not enough actual tea in this blend to get more than that. It is sort of like drinking chocolate potpourri with a splash of oolong. I am struggling to taste the oolong at all. I’d rather buy this as an herbal mix and pay less for it.

It just tastes like an average fruit tisane. Maybe slightly better than average… It is quite refreshing, kind of a treat tea. But where is the oolong part? No idea. Perhaps that’s the ‘wonder’ part as you wonder where the oolong notes are. There are definitely green oolong leaves in the fruit rubble, but they are just smothered by hibiscus as you drink this tea. Not for oolong lovers.

I saw a video about WonderBerry Chocolate Truffle and it really made me want to try this tea!

I’m not at all disappointed! It has the classic raspberry-chocolate blend and even more! To be specific: more berries! The person in the store said it had more of a berry taste than chocolate, and she was right!

This tea is great if you love the whole fruit and chocolate kind of thing. The berries are more prominent than the chocolate, so it depends on personal preference.

The smell of this tea dry is very true to it’s name. LOTS of rich berries with chocolate undertones. The smell of the tea brewed is pretty good too, but when I tasted it the power and flavor that I was expecting just wasn’t there. It seemed watered down and bland. A very small chocolate taste with a couple tart berries. I hate it when teas don’t live up to their smell! After trying it again at a higher concentration I gave up. This one was returned.
