Fruity infusion with cardamom & citrus undertones

Use 1.5-2 tsp of tea per 8oz of water. Heat water to just at boiling (208 degrees/98 degrees Celsius) and steep for 5-6 minutes. For stronger flavor, use more tea leaves.

When it first hits your tongue, it tastes just like an apple. Which is wonderful, but then the cardamom taste comes out. Have decided that I really, really don’t like cardamom in my teas. Finishes rather lemony, but the after-taste is straight cardamom for me. It’s not bad enough for me to throw out the pot, but I won’t be purchasing this again.

I blended this with “Strawberry Lemonade” from Teavana (~5tbs total in a liter, then added a liter) for a very light iced tea to bring to an Italian-style dinner. The fruit blended fairly well, the lemongrass and lemon rind coming enough to the fore-front to bring delight to the guests. Pair it with a meal that would typically call for white wine- it balances out most hearty meals that aren’t steak-and-potatoes-heavy.

It’s…interesting. I don’t like most fruity teas, though, especially citrus ones. I found the lemongrass to be a bit too much for me. I drank this iced, and it was all right.

So it seems that my rating for this one tends to fluctuate quite a lot. Generally it falls into the “it’s just okay” category, but last time I had this blend I really liked it so I bumped the rating. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for today’s cup. It’s very light and very dusty. Not particularly flavorful. Dropping my rating back down for its unreliability. I’m guessing I didn’t get everything in my scoop, but after shaking the bag there should be some consistency I would think.

From the Herbal TTB:

I usually feel like I am being let down when I “have” to drink herbals instead of “real” teas at night. But, I’m really enjoying this one! I don’t get cardamom at all though, so those tasting notes surprised me with the mention of heavy cardamom. It’s just lemony and appley to me – and, it doesn’t taste like mulch! Very nice. I’m drinking it while logging the box into a spreadsheet, and watching an old favorite Andrea Bocelli DVD with my husband. We are such boring old people!

Other than samples pushed at me in my brief visit to their store, this is my first Teavana tea.

You know what else is interesting, is the number of people with tasting notes on this that aren’t on the site anymore :( and appear to have been really super active a few years ago.

Glad you’re enjoying that one. Its one of my have to be in the mood for teas.

Steeped this at a lower temp than usual (again with the office water cooler) and I like it much better. The fruity flavor is definitely taking the lead and the cardamom is just blending in much nicer this time. I get mostly apple and lemon, very little if any pomegranate. Still smells quite spicy, but that just adds to its warmth since I don’t taste over whelming cardamom.

I was excited to buy this to blend with other teas, as I have seen it on suggested blends. I bought it online, so when I opened the packet to get a waft of lemongrass and cardamom, I figured I was going to hate it. I don’t do hot tea, so I brewed it and put right in to the fridge to enjoy the next morning. With sweetener, I hated it- it brought out the cardamom and lemongrass so much that I could barely swallow it without gagging. But cold, with no sweetener…it’s somewhat decent. It’s a light refreshing tea with a taste of lemongrass that doesn’t hit you until the very end.

Lemony! That’s pretty much all I got from this one. It seems like a tea I would really only reach for occasionally if I was feeling under the weather.

A wonderfully fruity morning/afternoon drink! I am enjoying this in my Teavana green monkey cast iron teapot. I’ve added some Teavana rock sugar. Yum!
