From TeaSource

This white tea from China has a prominent peach aroma and a flavor that is very smooth, very peachy, with lots of body for a white tea. If you’re looking for a white tea that is a little silky, a little sweet, and has a little something extra-this is the tea. It is made using White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) white tea.

Ingredients: White tea, freeze dried peaches, peach flavor, and calendula petals.

Discovery Tea Box – Tea Thirteen

This is the last flavoured tea that I pulled from the box; but there’s still two more that I pulled which I haven’t tried yet. Picked this for two reasons; firstly I think it’s a new to me company (after a while you’ve tried so many that it’s easy to lose track). Secondly, I’ve had several peach flavoured white teas over this summer and really just this year in general so I wanted to try this one and see how I stacked up compared to the others.

I actually really enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite I’ve tried. In fact, both of the two that I currently have in my cupboard are better – but it’s a TIGHT race. They’ve all actually been so good. This one is a little astringent, but mostly it does a VERY good job of really accurately conveying the taste of real peaches. Complete with the taste of the peach skin! It did taste a little familiar to me, and it was hard to place why but eventually I realized that I was reminding me A LOT of the Peaches and Cream white tea that I own from Sloane Tea. They have an almost identical peach flavour, but this doesn’t have any cream components to it. I think that’s why I like it less than the Sloane peach white tea and DT’s peach white tea; both of those are peaches and cream and this is just peach.

Still very, very good though!

TeaSource is out of Minneapolis, MN, and the one little coffee shop in my town that actually serves real tea and not just grocery store bagged shit (Idaho has amazing coffee but is a tea wasteland, seriously) sources their teas from TeaSource. This happens to be one of the few I don’t really like, though; I was able to sipdown my bag of it okay, but for me I got a dominant autumn leaf taste that always overpowered the peach. Since then I’ve always been searching for the perfect “peach white tea.” I’m crazy about most other TeaSource teas though; I don’t think I could live without my Rhubarb Oolong!

This is a tea that has changed for me a lot. I used to find this tea very peachy, and I remember the first time I sampled it at my local tea shop, I actually assumed it was a green tea, as I didn’t really notice the base tea much. I just remembered a strong, peachy flavor. My first experience with it cold brewed was such a refreshing, nice peachy tea with this sort of brisk aftertaste that reminded me somewhat of peach wine coolers. I really loved it, and drank it a lot last summer.

But I made a cold brew of this recently, and instead it tasted just like English Tea Store’s Peach Apricot White tea, a tea I found to have such a strongly vegetal taste beneath the peachy tones that it was really unappealing to me, so I gifted it off to my mom. I’m not sure how I could’ve ended up with such a different experience with this one — has my palate changed that much in such a small amount of time? I have stopped sweetening my tea, and I recall I used to, so I did try adding a bit of sweetener which did help mellow the leafiness and bring out the peachiness a bit, but it wasn’t nearly enough… this tea simply isn’t what I remembered. It just has this sort of autumn leaf pile vegetative flavor that dominates the cup, and the peach flavor just isn’t enough to overcome it. It is definitely better as a sweetened cold brew then as a warm cup… I have a hard time even drinking the tea warm, but iced it is at least palatable. Still, after revisiting this, I think I prefer the Bonita Peach green rooibos as a peach iced tea. It lacks that weird leafy taste.

This taste was a little strange for me, but it’s better on the 3rd round.

What a disappointment. White tea with peach, sounds delicious right?
My problems with this tea started in right off the bat. Yes there are nice large unfurled leaves, however there are even larger (2 inches+) sticks (plural) and other smaller twigs in this sample. I was willing to over look this because the leaves had a peachy, fresh, floral aroma. Once steeped the leaves took on a creamy quality.
The liquor tastes like fuzzy peaches – the candy- sans the sugar coating. That flavor was so dominant that I couldn’t get anything else from this tea. I genuinely don’t understand it. How can a tea that has REAL peach in it taste so artificial?

Very nice flavored white tea. The peach flavor is not too overpowering, and it keeps its white peony flavor throughout. Perfect for summer and makes a great iced tea.
