From Teaopia

Ceylon OP also known as Classic Dimbula gets its name from the typical Dimbula gardens used to create this vivid full tea full of freshness and harmony. The OP that follows Ceylon stands for Orange Pekoe and refers to the grading of the tea and not its flavour. This classic Black Tea is sure to please Black Tea lovers and is perfect any time of day.

almost sipdown!!! I have only a tiny bit left. Which was unexpected because I am at a friend’s house where I was just gifted a teapot and infuser… I HAVE A NEW TEAPOT :D
Anyhow, this is the one I chose to christen the pot with. And oh man is it ever tasty. Too bad I haven’t got enough for another pot after this!

So much love for my good friends J and T xxo

Teas from Dimbula are an interesting sort…if you have the fortune to look over a map and find all of the estates around Sri Lanka/Ceylon, it is an interesting thing to cup around the island and note the complexity that blushes from climate and soil, wind and weather…really wonderful and I am so grateful for that island for opening up my early stages of appreciation way back when…

Indigobloom

I so agree Kashyap! I’ve had a few I didn’t like, and others that were amazing. Funny how only a few miles can make such a big difference.
One day I’ll take a tour!

Kashyap

get in contact with Lalith of Empire tea services…he stages a tea travel visit each year to Ceylon and he once ran a number of the most famous estates…a wonderful guy and it would be an amazing journey

Indigobloom

I know a guy in Toronto that hosts a yearly tour of Asia/India. Tao.
Really nice to have options, thanks for letting me know!
Unfortunately, it’s just too costly. Sighs.

Kashyap

I do know that if he gets enough people the price goes down and usually he only can do it in pairs. If miraculously you find yourself able, I am connected with him and in correspondence and I have been very interested in going for years. Just tag me.

Indigobloom

Oh man that’d be a dream trip to be sure. If I win the lottery, you’ll be the first person I contact!!

My stereotype of orange pekoe either leans toward plain ol’ Lipton bagged or something a little sharp and acidic. This nice tea beats both of those preconceived notions back into the bushes. It’s nice, smooth, liquid amber—a little sweetness in the background like buttered toast or a Lender’s bagel. Probably not a kick-it-into-gear tea for the morning, but pleasant otherwise.

A very nice type of Black tea. It gave me hope to actually appreciating black tea again, because I had only the Darjeelings from Teaopia. I can’t stand them, but that isn’t what this review is about.

The Ceylon Teaopia carries is both affordable, and delicious. For anyone familiar with Orange Pekoe, you won’t be disappointed. The tea fully embodies its smell with a light earthy taste when the tea is steeped. Definitely recommended for newcomers to tea, either with milk/sugar. For the best taste, it’s best to drink it without anything added.
