DESCRIPTION
February 7th, 2019

These convenient mini tuos are made with much better material than your standard mini tuos! Haiwan was started by Zhou Bing-Liang, one of the originators of shu pu erh in the 70s, and Haiwan take their shou pu erh very seriously. Haiwan doesn’t get much publicity in the west for their pu erh, but it is consistently top quality tea, and even these little tuos hit well above their price point!

Some of you may have received these mini tuos over the last few months. Almost seven years of Guangdong dry storage have really helped these tuos age. No residual fermentation funk is evident in the liquor. These are nutty with sweet aromatics reminiscent of higher quality bricks, cakes and tuos. While these aren’t quite as good as larger (and also well aged) ripe tuos from the big factories, they are very much drinkable, and at a very nice price point. They are also very easy to transport and brew. Just drop one into a preheated teapot or gaiwan, give the mini tuo a good 20-30 second rinse, and off you go!

The material is smaller leaf grade and isn’t as choppy as the material used for cheaper tuos.

These are sold in packs of 25 or more with a plastic sealing rod to keep your tea moist and aromatic. I recommend brewing these at full boil. They are good for several infusions.
