From teakruthi

Pure Ceylon Black tea (OP1) · Mint leaves
Loose leaf · From Kandy region · Good for Iced tea

This refreshing tea is steeped in tradition. Our Zen Mint blend was harvested from the Kandy District and refined in a factory established there in 1950. Kandy was the last redoubt of the Sri Lankan Kings. The area is accessible only through steep mountain passes, and its isolation has ensured the preservation of the cultural traditions of the Sinhalese people for centuries. From this historical place, once an important centre of Buddhism, this fresh, spicy, cool tea has taken root and flourished. When you sip this tea, enriched with mint leaves and orange in colour, you will take a walk through time.

Thanks again for the samples, Teakruthi!  NOW Teakruthi has a great new rewards system on their already great free shipping and tea sales.  I love trying a new mint tea and with the black base here, it’s quite crisp and refreshing.  Plenty of mint mixed in — very fresh fragrance!  The black tea is on the lighter side so it’s tough to taste underneath that mint – too dark and deep and it might seem a bit odd with mint anyway.  But the black tea is a nice carrier for the mint when I’m craving it (or need it for headaches) while also offering a bit of caffeine. The ‘zen’ of the name is accurate – this is a very calming and soothing blend. The second steep is also full of flavor.  I guess I don’t see too many black mint teas that other companies sell, so this is a unique tea for Teakruthi to carry.  I have really been loving most of the teas I’m trying from Teakruthi and I’m glad I stumbled on the shop!

Few years back I had it. It was way too minty for me as I recall. But what can be for one way too strong can be okay/not enough for another one. Maybe I should make another order from them. They bring new blends which weren’t available back then.

I just saw your review while posting my review on their site! I wondered if it was “the Steepster Martin”. haha.

Thanks to AJRimmer for the sample! Advent day #2

This is such an odd tea. It tastes like a wintermint/spearmint type tea but with a black tea base. It reminded me of wintermint lifesavers.

My review from their website: As far as mint teas go, this is top notch. It smells so strongly of spearmint in the leaf that I was surprised when I drank the tea just how much the tea flavor comes through. Mint and tea are both distinct and yet balanced and harmonious. This can be a bit sharp for some which makes the tea come off a little metallic at first but if you get past the initial strength of both the mint and tea, it is really quite smooth and relaxing.

Thank you for sharing teakruthi
