I had this tea as a sample in my travel bag and finally got to try it. It’s certainly interesting. It smells like lemon pound cake dry and even more tart when brewed. I had to add sugar because the tart smell kept tricking my mind.

The black base doesn’t come though very strongly in taste during the first steep, but did more nicely in the second steep. I had directions to brew 2 minutes and at 2 minutes it wasn’t overly strong but already beginning to be astringent.

Thanks MissB for send this in one of the mystery packs!

Thank you so very much Marzipan for the surprise sample of this that showed up in my mailbox the other day. I will admit that I got a little teary eyed when I opened it.

This tea smells incredible. Dry, I get more of the not quite buttermilk scent from it, and sweet lemon. Add water and I’m getting creamy buttermilk and definitely lemon. Wow. And this is seconds after adding water. I didn’t want to put the top on while it steeped. (I was good and I did after a few more seconds.)

I don’t drink a lot of black teas. I don’t always like how they play in my blends, often trying to overwhelm or overpower. This one surprisingly works really well. It is definitely a black tea, a bit malty, strong, but it supports and strengthens the creamy buttermilk, helping the expected aftertaste of buttermilk to linger on the pallet. It brightens the lemon, a sweet lemon not too tart or pithy, perfectly balanced with the buttermilk and tea.

I’m really glad I got to try this. I think it’s a tea that I wouldn’t drink too often, but I really enjoy it. Buttermilk is a rare treat in my mind, and I think that’s part of it.

Marzipan

It made me really happy to send it!

Cheri

It’s awesome to have Tea Friends. Thank you again so very much. This really made my day when I got it, and my morning when I had it today.

Thanks to MissB for sending me some of this to try!

I was curious about it as I am debating a TeaG order to get my hands on their caramel tea…

It was a creamy, faintly vanilla dessert-like lemon black tea.

I enjoyed it. And I will enjoy my next cup as well, but I don’t think I need to own it.

It’s the kind of citrus tea I like, though, the kind with a creamy sweet note to balance off the tart lemon.

Dustin

It seems like this is one of the hot teas at the moment that Steepster folk are getting excited about! Hot as in popular, not temp. :) Have you tried their caramel tea? I hadn’t heard about this company until recently.

Plunkybug

This is one i want to try!

Sipdown!! (173)

Usually I am not a lover of citrus teas but everyone has spoken so highly of this tea that it piqued my interest. Luckily, the wonderful NayLynn saw it on my wishlist and sent me a small samples so I could give it a try and I am so glad she did because it is delicious!

The black base provides a fullness while not being overwhelming in flavor. The lemon is present and refreshing but not in-your-face. Also, it is lemony like the fruit as opposed to bitter and tasting of rind. Also, the almonds give this almost a cookie-like quality while the marigold provides a hint of vanilla-caramel sweetness. And, without any milk, this is just a touch creamy. A really, really good tea that I would be happy to have again. Back onto the wishlist it goes and thank you NayLynn for the chance to try it out :).

I still love this. There is no other tea that tastes similar to this.

You guys will be so proud of me, I chained myself to my desk and did all of July’s invoicing. I think tomorrow we should get a chat room and hang out. What do you think?

mj

I would love to do that but I have a huge experiment tomorrow :( No time for chats…

Sil

Picked up 100g of this for fun, on he the basis of you and a few others liking it lol hope it’s decent ;)

Marzipan

If you hate it I’ll buy it. :)

Stephanie

It’s good Sil :)

Lariel of Lórien

The tea name makes me think of cookies.

Sil

Haha I figured if I hated it, someone would want it…it smelled lovely. I went a little overboard on things though…and have to go back to pick something up for someone…I’m worried I’ll walk away with more lol

Cheri

Let me know if you’re opening a chat room somewhere. I’m working, but I should be able to stop by for a bit.

I must have overleafed my first tea of the day, so I threw it out and put this one in. What an all-around nice tea. It is just so soothing…I have a lemon chai when I want lemon and a nice kick in the pants…this one is like eating a lemon cookie. Well…drinking one. You know what I mean. :)

OMG
I would not have expected to enjoy this as much as I have been. It’s so rich and creamy, and the lemon is like a custard: tart, yet sweet.

I will have to order teas from this company with the name I cannot pronounce or spell!

Thanks MissB!

Courtney

I’m seeing so many great reviews for this company! I’ve shortened it in my mind to “TeaG” haha.

ashmanra

A lot of companies are actually sourcing their teas from them. Most of the tea at Tin Roof Teas and the place in Florida whose name I can’t remember was actually TeaG tea. Same picture, same description.

OMGsrsly

This one sounds so cool! I think MissB is including some in my TeaG stuff. :)

TeaLady441

I didn’t realise that, ashmanra! I wonder if that makes it easier to compare companies for shipping to Canada etc.

Fjellrev

Nice, I’m going to have to bump them up on the priority list. :)

MissB

Their shipping to Canada is really reasonable, although you can only order 50-100g of their teas at a time, so sampling is definitely mandatory. So glad you’re enjoying it!

TeaLady441

That’s pretty decent. I’m used to 50g minimums and I haven’t been disappointed yet by them, so I’d be willing to take a chance. ;D

MissB

Did I sent you any of their whiskey tea, or the bamboo pomelo? Both come to mind when I think of stellar teas from them.

OMGsrsly

giggles O’Connor’s Cream… :D

TeaLady441

You did! I had the bamboo pomelo! :D Thanks again – I wouldn’t have tried them anytime soon if it wasn’t for you.

And hehe. I loved O’Connor’s Cream. :P

Ubacat

I’ve tried the Bamboo Pomelo too thanks to MissB. Wow, this one sounds great. I’ll add it to my wish list for when I place an order down the road.
