From Tea Trekker

This marvelous tea is from Mt. Emei – Emei Shan – located in Sichuan Province in western China. Emei Shan is a revered mountain in Buddhist culture and it was recently awarded Unesco Heritage Site protection status for its unique splendor.

Tea from this lofty place is special as the combination of factors influencing the terroir of the tea gardens is impressive and very influential.

Filled with the best landscape features of classical Chinese mountains, Emei Shan is a magical combination of dramatic rocks, craggy cliffs, verdant forests with waterfalls, bamboo groves, crisp, cool air, high elevation and plenty of nurturing clouds & mist to keep the vegetation well watered. Tea gardens are tucked in and amongst all of this and the tea thrives in a cool environment of clean, thin air.Immortal Goddess tea is named after the mythological goddess who once watched over the special tea of this place. She ( much like the goddess Guan Yin in Fujian Province in eastern China for whom the famous Tieguanyin tea is named ) was responsible for the unique variety of tea seeds first planted on Emei Shan.

This tea is velvety, mouth-filling and very thirst quenching. The body is smooth yet substantial and the taste suggests chestnuts, mushrooms and fresh baked bread. A flavorsome green tea for tea enthusiasts looking for a cup with lots of flavor without having to sacrifice nuance or early season clarity and freshness.
