From Tea Runners

Himalayan Golden Black was a 1st Place Winner of the highly-competitive “Black Tea” category of the Global Tea Championship Awards. It is truly an outstanding black tea that reflects all of nature’s goodness in a cup.

This highly sought after black tea is crafted by Himalayan monsoons and the fertile soils of Sandakphu in eastern Nepal. It’s one of those small pockets of the world where the conditions are perfect for tea growing. After plucking, the leaves are 25 percent withered, then rolled in mechanical rollers. The tea is then placed in a shaping machine and further dried, producing uniformly curled leaves.

Tea producers from around the world came to this small artisan farm in Nepal to see how it was done.

Like a fine wine, this tea has a lovely balance of flavors: toasty and malty, with notes of stonefruit and honey. We’re so lucky to get it and can’t wait to share it with you!

H is for…Himalayan Golden Black

I thought maybe this was astringent but it’s not. It’s just brisk. Brisk and a touch floral maybe.

This is an award winning tea and I’m super underwhelmed. That said, I got Invisalign yesterday and everything seems wonky so maybe it’s that…

AJRimmer

Oh I was considering getting Invisalign, but I was a little worried it would make my tooth staining even worse because I’d be steeping my teeth in tea all the time? I’d be interested to hear how your experience goes!

VariaTEA

So far I’m still adjusting to them – feels like a lot of pressure and I’ve managed to stain them with Indian food but I switch them out weekly so I guess I can deal lol.

Decided to try a cold brew. For some weird reason, this reminds me of that instant iced tea mix that was around when I was a kid. Can’t remember for the life of me what it was called. Not enjoyable cold IMO. It seems even more astringent than it did when it was hot.

Thanks for the share VariaTEA!

This was a nice cup of full bodied, well rounded Nepalese black – more on the sweet and malty side of flavours with some coppery tannic notes, cocoa, honey, red fruit, and just a sliiighhttt hint of something floral in the finish. Reminded me a bit of DT’s Nepal Black but darker and more cocoa – less “golden” flavours. Delish.

One more cup, and it’s a sipdown.

VariaTEA

I haven’t tried this one yet…or most of my Tea Runner teas. I should probably work on that.
