From Taylors of Harrogate

“To achieve a perfect harmony of mind, body and spirit, the Chinese ancients flavoured their tea with the essences and blossoms of fruits and flowers. The recipe for this delightful blend was presented to the second Earl Grey in the 1880s and has become one of the world’s classic teas.

Our Decaffeinated Earl Grey is light and elegant with the delicate fragrance of Bergamot, and can be enjoyed at any time of the day. We have chosen to use the carbon dioxide method of decaffeination, which only uses natural elements to gently remove the caffeine.

For the perfect cup we recommend that you use one tea bag. Add freshly boiled water and infuse for 3-5 minutes. Serve with or without milk to taste."

I think it might be time for a nap already but I’ve been up since 4 am!

I remembered I had this decaf Earl Grey in my cupboard and I was thinking it couldn’t possibly be as bad as I remember it to be. I don’t like a lot of bergamot so it’s kind of a mystery as to why I bought this and as I’m sitting here I’m not even sure I want to finish the cup. To me it just seems bitter and soapy. If anyone in the US wants the remaining teabags please let me know and I’ll be happy to send them to you! Otherwise this is destined for the compost… life is too short to be drinking teas I don’t even like.

Really good — it’s unassuming but tasty! The bergamot, which has a spicy citrus flavor, is added to the tea in a very generous quantity. However, it isn’t completely overpowering — with this tea, unlike far too many flavored decaffeinated teas, you can actually taste the tea leaves.

When brewed for two minutes, it gets very bitter and astringent, and doesn’t make a good cup of tea at all. But brew it with boiling water for just one minute, and it’s great!

Each teabag is individually wrapped in a sealed, airtight plastic envelope. This should keep the tea fresh for a very long time.

It’s decaffeinated by the CO-2 process, according to the packaging.
