With success of “Twilight Jade” and “Night Jade” this Cui Yu plantation proved to be a phenomenal place for tea growing. This winter’s Cui Yu is quite unusual because of the strong bug bitten-ness “everywhere” in Taiwan, so this Cui Yu was able to suffer from strong pest issue, creating an unprecedented character for this material we are familiar with.
One character while processing a bug bitten tea is to tame the harshness of the bug bitten-ness. On one hand you got mesmerizing aroma from the material, but on the other hand the harshness from the chemical reaction of the bite need to be tamed in order for a smooth experience. Like many other teas we worked on this season, this “Jade Dew” was not an easy tea to work with, but we make sure every effort and passion was synchronized properly with it.
If you haven’t tried a Cui Yu varietal in the past, this would not be a proper tea for you since it is way too sweet for a Cui Yu varietal. We would recommend one to try “Night Jade” or “Twilight Jade” first before indulging themselves into this wonder.
