From Stash Tea

New! Fragrant magnolia blossoms richly scent this smooth oolong. Its lovely, large leaves are hand-rolled. Jasmine tea lovers will find this tea appealing. Known in China as Lan Hua Oolong, this tea may be infused multiple times to reveal subtle differences. Very pale in the cup. Grown in Fujian Province.

I actually dropped my rating by a few points this morning (I know gasp and all that). The reason is because I’ve finally had straight-up oolongs and this really lacks some of the oolong characteristics that I have grown to love. It hardly evolves from steep to steep, but at least multiple steepings are possible. It also gives me the tiniest bit of dryness at the back of my throat. It also doesn’t send my mouth to a super-happy-fun-land. Overall, it’s one of my favorite florals, but it’s not my favorite oolong. TG

The dry leaves are pleasantly aromatic. The tea itself is light in body and taste, though very smooth and with a clean finish. The magnolia note is hinted at, but does not linger. This is disappointing as an oolong, but might suit someone who loves lightly scented jasmine or floral teas.

The leaves don’t hold up to several infusions. My suggestion would be to brew this for a longer steep time and only re-steep the leaves once.
