From Stash Tea

Rich mango and fresh, sweet coconut flavors in this Oolong tea bring to mind a day at the beach.

Oolong is between black and green tea in taste and color. The best oolong tea in the world grows in the mists and fertile ground of the Wuyi Mountains of China’s Fujian Province. Juicy mango flavor combines with sweet coconut flavor for a tea that brings to mind a day at the beach. Enjoy a bit of the island life with our Coconut Mango Oolong.

Ingredients: Wuyi oolong tea, orange peel, mango flavor, and pineapple coconut flavor

Brewing
To savor the full flavor of our teas, bring fresh water to a rolling boil. Pour hot water directly over the tea bag in a pre-heated pot or cup. Brew 3-5 minutes or to desired taste. One tea bag makes 8 ounces of hot tea. For iced tea, brew double strength.

Here’s Hoping TTB

I was at a work conference most of the week without the proper equipment for brewing loose leaf tea, so I brought along a bunch of tea bags from the TTB to try. Of all the ones I sampled, this was my favorite. In fact, this may be one of the best bagged teas I’ve ever had! The oolong base was smooth and silky with a lovely sweet aftertaste. And the juicy mango and creamy coconut were perfectly balanced in each sip. Adding this to my wish list!

QueenOfTarts sent me a couple of samples along with the Chocolate Rose tea I picked out from her stash sale. This was one of them. It’s one I’ve been wanting to try, and I’m away from home today, so I put it in my purse to try. I have to say, I’m glad I didn’t pay money for this. The smell of the teabag was lovely, but the brewed tea smells and tastes artificial and unpleasant. The chemical taste of the flavoring mixes with an unpleasant flavor from the oolong itself that reminds me a bit of rancid nuts, maybe? I know I won’t be picking up more of this in the future. Oh, well. One less tea to spend my money on.

I finally figured out what it is about this tea that bugs me: It tastes like carrot juice.

teaqueen

Yeah. It’s disappointing :(

I have really been wanting to try this and finally ordered it with a gift certificate. The bag smelled good and tropical after opening the wrapper. I have to say that as far as taste goes, I was a little disappointed. I tasted plenty of mango and little coconut. It almost had a bitter taste to me. I will try steeping for less time the next time I brew it.

This tea smells like an incredibly juicy orange mixed with tropical pineapple and coconut. I steeped this at a higher temperature than I should have though because it is extremely bitter and tannic. Adding honey makes it much more tolerable and tames the bitterness some. I can taste the pineapple most of all. Not a bad cup, but it will likely be much better when I try it at a lower temperature.

This was sent to me from a tea friend :) I’m very happy to sit and relax for the few minutes that I have. Today has been crazy busy. I finally do make it back home and find that my tea package (which i’ve been waiting for almost month for) finally arrives and my gaiwan is shattered. I have begun my dispute with the company and really hope to be reimbursed.

Anyways, I picked this because I am tired and wanted simplicity. This is one of the very few tea bags I own, so the choices are slim. I thought this to be very unique though. I’ve never had oolong in tea bag form. This had a very smooth taste. The mango was very slight and it was mostly milky coconut. I guess the oolong added an amber base but altogether it was a coconut brew :)

I’ve been avoiding drinking this one for awhile because I thought for sure that it would be bad. as I opened up the package and interesting smell wafted to my nose. I’m still not quite sure of what it was or how I really felt about it. As it has begun to cool down, it’s actually tasting better than I thought. It’s almost like a smoothie.

How i got it: Bought it

Experience: Being from Stash, i had some expectations for this, and i think i wasn’t disappointed. Its aroma is a delightful (at least for me) mix of the coconut and mango ingredients, a bit more inclined to the former. At the other hand, i haven’t tasted a pure oolong yet, so i still can’t recognize its presence accurately, but i presume it on the basis of the background taste of the blend. The notes of coconut and mango are present in the flavor too, just a bit more nuanced. I also tasted some grassy and herbal notes from time to time, but i don’t know where could they have come from. Very good, and i’d say, a tea that has a real potential for an iced version.

Would i buy it again?: I’d say ‘yes’ this time.

Mango seemed like a nice afternoon tea idea and I kinda wanted to pace myself from blacks. For whatever reason I’m a little anti-black (that sounds so bad without context) this week, which is very out of character. I guess they just seem very heavy/weighted to me right now and I was struggling to think of why that is but it hit me this morning/early afternoon; I’ve been sleeping horribly this last week, so “lighter” teas have seemed more gentle/like they could nurse me back to sleep.

Heh.

Anyway, mango tea. That seemed like a good idea, and this one was really reachable (literally sitting in my tea bag chest on the dishwasher not a foot away from me) so I went for it. Dry, it does smell almost solely of mangoes, but now that it’s steeped up coconut is much stronger than initially anticipated. I actually am really happy about that though; partnered with the juicy mango this has a very nice tropical feel to it.

Thank you Kat_Maria, I’m really enjoying this one! Super happy to have lots more.

keychange

hahahaha anti-black!

Hehe reachable. Not sleeping well is brutal. I hope that ends quickly.

I’m glad you like it :)

I saved this tea just to taste one last time, because maybe I wouldn’t give it a fair rating. I usually buy a box of tea and try various ways of preparing it. This tea was just bad. It had the taste of pina colada with too much alcohol… without the alcohol. I wanted to like this tea, but I just didn’t.
