Gute Laune (Cheery)

Cheery, indeed! I looked this up on the Sonnentor website and the array of ingredients (there’s a little picture of each one) looks like a spring bouquet. We grow apple mint every year and I use it as a tea/juice/water additive constantly while it’s in season, but I’ve never seen it used in a commercial tea before. It’s a very subtle mint that doesn’t overpower the blackberry, raspberry, or strawberry leaves, all of which are also very understated. But together, it’s a really pleasant herbal blend. Martin, you’re the best!

2023 sipdown no. 104

We arrived back from Ireland on Sunday evening and what was awaiting us but an awesome tea parcel from Martin! I didn’t look this one up before steeping and never considered it would be mint aha. I am not normally a mint tea fan, but this one was very mellowed out by the other ingredients and quite enjoyable overall. Thanks Martin!

There are so many teas here, I can’t wait to get into more. :)

I think my neighbor across the street probably heard my gasp when I opened the mailbox today, for inside was a package from Martin, plump with tea! It is the Sonnentor Advent Tea Calendar! Martin was able to send the box it came in flat, and I reconstructed it back to its original condition and packed the teas in! Wow, thank you, Martin! It was a complete surprise!

Since today is December 2nd, I decided to play catch up and drink two of these today. Gute Laune means good mood in German, and this tea is easy going and easy to drink.

I can’t say any one thing stood about it, except the utter lack of hibiscus and licorice root, which seems to be everywhere when you buy herbals. I agree with Martin that the apple mint does not really add a minty flavor. This tea was overall mild, easy to drink, pleasant enough, but no single flavor stood out to me. Just herbaceous and pleasant.

It has been again No. 1 in Sonnentor Advent Calendar, as 3 years ago. This time there are a little poems on each tea bag wrapper, but they are in Czech and honestly I don’t feel I can translate them well (and certainly I would lose the rhytm and rhymes). So I won’t add them this year.

As I have arrived late yesterday, I had no mood to drink herbal tea just after interesting tea from Nabo.

This one, honestly, is the same. Very herbal, without much distinctive notes, mild and nothing off-putting. On their English website under Cheery name; I am keeping original German names (though it is made in Czech Republic, as they have two factories). Anyone wants to have 1 kg (1000 gr) bag? Yep, that’s bulk version they have available of this.
