From Simpson & Vail

This slightly sweet, scrumptious blend has a lightly toasted flavor with the delicious taste of apples and cinnamon. Sipping this tea reminds me of the Sunday morning breakfast treats of my childhood. Now that I’m all grown up I could have those treats every day of the week; however, I think I’ll stick to this tea blend instead. It’s full of the sinful tastes of childhood but, with no calories, it suits my adult metabolism!

Ingredients: Black teas, organic cinnamon chips, apple pieces, apple coffeecake flavoring and orange blossoms.

Tried this tea with double the leaves. Sadly the notes of apple, cinnamon, and coffeecake are drowned out by the black tea. What the what, black tea, stay in the background! But it didn’t. So sad. Still a good tea when steeped normally.

Still have a bunch of S&V teas to get through from my last order. That was in September of last year and there are still several I haven’t tried… Tea hoarder life, amirite? ^^’

So I ordered this one because I was curious how it compares to Apple Cinnamon French Toast (a favorite). That one already kind of tastes like coffee cake IMO, and I find it a bit weird that they have two teas that are so similar. So, you know, for science!

It’s definitely similar, but I feel like maybe the apple is more subtle here? I mostly taste coffee cake, with plenty of cinnamon obviously. It definitely has that buttery quality that reminds me of the crumb topping on a coffee cake. Base tea is a bit musty, which I remember also being a thing in the other tea. A shame that S&V’s black base is so weak, when their flavorings are so good.

I might have to try this and Apple Cinnamon French Toast side-by-side to compare them… :P

I’m tempted to grab all 4 of their apple blends to compare them all

Cameron B.

Ha ha, I also have their Apple Sage black tea and Apple Pie Chai! :P

thereadersteacup

Yes! I’ve been wanting to try those but I try to keep my orders in the 50 to 60 dollar range, next time I go in person (on my bday lol) I’m going to make a bigger haul.

Cameron B.

Pretty sure the Apple Sage is one of the teas I haven’t tried yet, oops? :P

A sweet and warming dessert tea, I highly liked this one. I had ordered a sampler (well 2 oz each) of Apple Cinnamon Coffeecake and Apple Cinnamon French Toast. Not sure yet on which I like better.

This one seems like a great complement for breakfast. Would go well if you want to add a touch of maple syrup instead of sugar if you care to sweeten as the fall flavors enhance each other. This would be particularly delicious with biscuits and jam or any dessert bread sweetened like a crumpet or mini pancake. That reminds me, I still need to keep perfecting my crumpets since I ordered the molds for them.

It’s sweet enough on its own where you don’t have to add sweetener if that is your preference. I can taste the tea true behind the flavors and it’s all natural, not overwhelming, pleasant, not bitter.

I followed the rec of brewing at 3 instead of 5 I usually do, and the taste comes through strong at 3. I’d recommend their directions on bag for this one in that case.

Shae Advent Day 13

Yay, it’s always great to see a tea from my favorite company! I’m drinking this with milk and sugar, and the flavor is really pretty bready! I get a little bit of a baked cinnamon flavor and a lot of pastry flavor. The flavor really lingers in my mouth. This one is executed pretty well!

Cameron B.

I haven’t tried this one, but I love the French toast version!

AJRimmer

The French toast version is one of the best teas ever made! This one isn’t quite as good, but still super enjoyable.

This caught me off guard with its nutty aroma! I get it now, after thinking on it – the nuttiness I think is supposed to represent the cake flavor here. Unfortunately, I don’t taste anything else. No apple, no cinnamon. I have a pretty large bag of this one, so plenty to play around with.

Sipdown! Finished this off to make my stash look a little less out of control. I have SO MUCH to review between samples people have sent me, Sips by, and my latest Harney & Sons order. Gotta get on it!

Plenty of goodies in this blend, so I went with two teaspoons! What a lovely autumn blend during this miserable weather: apple, cinnamon, orange blossoms, and a unique toasty flavor I haven’t tasted with any other tea…. that must be the coffeecake flavor. The ingredients in the blend play nice, but how could they not? Apples and cinnamon are the classic combination. The black tea used here enhances the fruitiness of the apple, yet adds dark layers to the cinnamon and coffeecake flavor. The orange blossoms don’t add much to the flavor, as far as I can tell. The toasty flavor is actually stronger than the cinnamon. Without the toastiness, it might be an ordinary tea, but the toasty flavor brings something unique to this blend! It’s definitely an autumn blend, but I could drink this all year. This was a sample in the dessert box sampler, but I would definitely stock up on this. I stole an apple cube from the infuser and it was delicious. :D
Steep #1 // 2 teaspoons for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 minute steep

Nice! This was one of the more favourable ones when I ordered many years ago. Glad you liked it.

Good morning my Steepsterites! Hope you all are having a great one so far. I’m so happy today is Friday. I’m ready for this weekend and my “bachlorette” party (more like a gathering at a pottery shop to drink wine and paint bowls!). Should be a good time!

Last night I enjoyed several mugs of this delicious apple cinnamon coffeecake flavored tea. The tea tastes exactly like the name. Another winner from Simpson & Vail. I’m really enjoying their teas!

The scent of this tea is a mix of apples, cinnamon and a bit of that “baked good” smell. The bakery scent mixes well with that of the black tea base. I can’t tell the difference between the two. I’m a little concerned that the tea base might take over when it comes to the actual taste and that the actual apple cinnamon coffeecake flavor will be lost.

Sipping… there is something in this that reminds me of the Simpson & Vail almond sugar cookie blend. I first taste a bit of the black tea which turns into that “bakery” flavor. The cinnamon seems to be woven in nicely – it’s not too strong or weak, but is definitely present throughout. My first sip was mostly cinnamon and apple – now it’s a little bit harder for the apple to come through. It’s there, though, if you look for it… not artificial, but like a nice fresh slice. A part of me wants to say that this is the almond sugar cookie blend without a whole lot of almond, but there is something that I can’t quite identify that makes it just a little bit different. To me, this doesn’t really taste like apple cinnamon coffeecake, but it is tasty and original. I can’t remember who sent this tea to me.. I’m just terrible at remembering some of these older teas I have left to try. So thank you so much to that person who sent this to me in a swap!

This is one I’m considering when I finally place an order w/them. Good to see the review.

I think you’ll like it if you like their almond sugar cookie or any variation of that sort of blend. It’s definitely unique and satisfies the need for a baked good. Hope you end up liking it!

Yay, Spring Break! No students, no PARENTS for one whole week :)

This tea smells awesome and tastes pretty good too. Definitely nice cinnamon and apple taste. I made the mistake of drinking it with my McD’s breakfast burrito with salsa so the taste was a little funky but now that I’m done and ate cookies, definitely a nice dessert tea.
