Introduction of Fu Tea
Fu tea was invented in AD 1368 by the people of Xianyang in Shaanxi Province who discovered a unique processing technique and tea-leaf type. Since the end result resembled a common Chinese medicinal herb, Smilax glabra, and the shape resembled a brick, it came to be called “fu brick tea.” Also, as it came under official monitoring, manufacture, and sale, it was also called “official tea” or “government tea.”
