From Red Leaf Tea

The Blue Moon Tea is a very rare tea from Europe that is made primarily of black tea with pieces of safflower, marigolds and blue mallow blossoms. The tea is characterized by a full-bodied flavor with a hint of sweetness from the Marigold. The safflower and the blue mallow blossoms contributed to the color of this fragrant tea.

Ingredients: Black tea, safflower, marigolds, blue mallow blossoms.

Just finished my tin of this, and I definitely need to buy some more. For one thing, it’s a black tea that is smooth and sweet enough to drink plain. It never even occurs to me to add milk or sugar after taking a sip. The character changes on me a little every time I drink it; usually I get apples, sometimes berries, but today I’m getting a very creamy vanilla flavor and something tart, like tropical fruit.

I generally get a second steep that is weaker but still very much worth drinking. At $2.18/oz (for the large tin) this might need to be a staple in my cupboard.

Ok, I will just say it. I love this tea. There. Done.
Berry, slightly floral, no perfume, rich golden color, and solid black tea.

It’s an extraordinarily pretty tea shot through with ribbons of yellow, red, and blue petals. The tea smells sweet like berries. The liquor is reddish like good brandy (but not as dark as brandy). The taste is like sweet black tea flavored lightly with strawberries.

Yummy. This is a pretty tasty black tea. Sweet and a faintly fruity flavour. I did enjoy it, but no one flavour really stood out to me.

This one wasn’t a home run for me. I was exhausted last night when I made a cup, and my only thought was “….well, it does taste kind of blue…”

I will definitely try it again, maybe I just missed something. But as it stands right now, this tea was just generic, nothing special, and not a rebuy for me.

Edit: Although I will forever get “Blue Moon of Kentucky” stuck in my head when this tea is mentioned, which is enough for me to keep it around!
