It’s similar to the Green Tea Frappuccino at Starbucks. Except that I love Peet’s and not Starbucks so I’m going to say that it’s much better! :-)

Cofftea

Never been to a Peet’s. How do they make it: real matcha, sweetened matcha, or liquid concentrate?

Peggie Bennett

Hmm, I don’t watch them do it. I will have to watch today when I go out again to get another! haha! I want to say maybe sweetened matcha because it does have a similar sweetness to the Starbucks version, although in my opinion, not as sweet as Starbucks, which is better for me. I don’t like a lot of sweet in my drinks.
I love Peet’s, they have good loose leafs to order and most of the baristas I have met actually know how to brew the tea.

Cofftea

Yeah SBUX makes 2 mistakes- 1.) using sweetened matcha and 2.) adding classic syrup to it.

Peggie Bennett

Okay, a scoop of powder into milk and ice, then blend. They may add a sweetener too, but she didn’t mention it. I want to try to make it at home tonight.

Cofftea

Even if the matcha is sweetened (which I hope it isn’t), at least they’re smart enough not to put even more sweetener in it.

Peggie Bennett

Okay, so they use a powdered emulsifier, like xanthan gum, that also sweetens as well. Where do I find xanthan gum?
