From Lipton

First discovered in the Fujian province of China, LIPTON White Tea is plucked by hand from the tips of tea buds before the tea leaf blossoms, to preserve the natural goodness of the whole leaf. It is then infused with the fresh fruit flavors of sweet mango and ripe peach.

Hmm. I’m a sucker for flavoured teas, and always look for something interesting (and inexpensive!) to try at the grocery store. I’ve been treating myself to some better teas lately though, so I knew there was a chance that a cheaper one like this might not do the trick anymore.
I wasn’t totally disappointed. White tea is a new thing for me, so I don’t know what to expect there, but it kind of reminded me of another cheap green tea (that’s not just me, because it’s labelled as just white but the ingredients list says “white & green tea”).
The smell of mango and peach is definitely present both dry and when steeped, which is a plus.
The flavour was nice – light and clean, with a hint of tropical fruitiness. The fact that there is no actual mango or peach listed in the ingredients is a turn off though! I will try this again, and think it would be interesting to make iced, but this tea is nothing special. I was right, now that I’ve tasted better quality teas, the grocery store ones just aren’t comparable.

Cold Brew sip down.

This is a delicious tea cold brewed. It is slightly bitter but leaves a peachy aftertaste like those peachy rings from the old days.

I have mixed feelings about this tea. I just finished putting in my last few bags into jars to cold brew overnight. I got this box of these 18 pyramids my freshman year of college in 2013!! I was just getting started with drinking tea as it seemed like the easier option to pop into mug to take to class. This was one of two boxes of tea I first bought. I remember thinking that it was fancy and luxurious because of the satiny pyramid sachets. I knew nothing about tea at this point at least compared to what I now know. I would wake in the mornings and make boiling hot water in either my microwave or more often in my coffee maker. I would remove the tags and chuck in one of the two flavors (the other being blueberry flavored tea) into my magenta mug along with the boiling water and carry it around steeping for 6+ hours. Knowing what I know, it seems sacrilegious to add boiling water to white tea. Although I did not know at that time, I was burning the tea leaves and drinking bitter tea which is why I probably only used about 3 of the white tea bags that year. I ended up using all the blueberry tea which either masked the burned tea flavor or it was an herbal tea. I carried this box with me for the next couple of year through 3 moves and used maybe 3 more bags in that time. I ended up exploring tea and fell into the rabbit hole of tea.

This box of tea was forgotten for almost 5 years until the day I discovered it hiding at the back of the cupboard and decided to try it again. It was still bitter even though I made it with the correct temperature and steep time. I ended up playing a little with steep time to no avail. I gave up for a few months but once again it found its way out while I was searching for something else. This time, I decided to cold steep it and it still came out better yet still bitter. It turns out that it is just mediocre tea. I could not bring myself to get rid of it after I decided to lug it around on all my moves, so I decided to embrace the bitterness and finish off the 18 sachet box 7 years later. Although its bitter, it is very flavorful.

It brought back so many memories :)

It’s rare we get to see the history of an entire box of tea. :D

I may have let the water boil for too long this time but it was still pleasant. Had a slight bitter aftertaste, smelt really nicely of peaches but the flavour of the tea was lacking compared to how fragrant it was.

Yum yum, summer fruit tea! Normally, I avoid super fruity blends, but I just impulsively decided to try this one today. I’m glad I did! This tea is a perfect example of responsibly used hibiscus. Which is to say, hibiscus is listed in the ingredients, but I didn’t taste it. Thank goodness, because the hibiscus was what made me hesitate initially.

White tea and peach are a match made in heaven, in my opinion. They both have a mildly sweet and floral flavor, which is perfect for July. The mango presents itself during the sip, and the peach echoes in the aftertaste, but neither dominates over the other.

Well done, Lipton.

I am obsessed with anything and everything peach, so I was really excited to try this, expecting it to be just as good (if not better!) than the other Lipton white tea flavors.

Unfortunately, though it smells amazing, the flavor is less than desirable. The first flavor that you taste is the peach, but a bitter, unpleasant artifical mango flavor quickly appears and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Just because I hate to waste money and food, I might be able to finish off the box, but this is definitely not something I’d ever buy again. I’m sure there are a million better teas out there than this one.

This tea is the devil. Literally it is the most awful tea I’ve ever had in my whole life. I am willing to try any tea once. From herbal, white and green to oolong and black . . . I’ve found tea in each category I like. I took one sip and almost spit it out. The peach and mango flavor is awful and artificial and what small amount of tea flavor shines through is bitter and mineral and terrible. I was intrigued with the smell, though strong and the pyramid bags, but lets be honest, it was on sale at the grocery store. Made that one cup and then had to give it away.

Definitely my favorite of the pyramid tea bag Lipton teas! The ISLAND part of the title just kinda sums it up for me; really refreshing fruity mango taste that is actually as good as it smells!

I have tired this tea hot, cold, and sun-sea style and find it MEH. It really should not say there is mango in there cause all I can taste is peach. The only way I have drank it when it tasted even semi remotely good is a sun tea and still it is meh.

I have even tried to brew this with my Thai Moutain Oolong (Teavana) and found it horrid. It had an astringent flavor and with a weird after taste of carrots.

Overall really bad tasting tea to me.
