I’ve been wanting to pick this up for the heck of it and when I saw it on clearance at Target I couldn’t resist picking up a box.
It smells caramelly, though I don’t really get the vanilla that much in the dry smell. Steeped you can definitely smell the caramel but again, not so much the vanilla.
Unfortunately I’m not that impressed with the taste, even with some sugar added. It’s a bit bitter and not too impressive on the taste. Lackluster caramel and a hint of vanilla on the back of the taste. Maybe a lower temp or shorter steep will improve this. I certainly have enough to experiment with. Lol.
I’m glad I tried it and I’ll probly finish the rest of the bags. But I won’t be rebuying it. Most likely this is going to be a tea I’ll keep at work for when I want tea and don’t want to deal with any of my actual good teas. At home I have much better caramel & vanilla teas (Butiki’s Caramel Vanilla Assam to be exact. X3) for when I want a tea like that.

This has the most incredible smell, an intense mix of sweet vanilla and caramel. Thankfully the taste is not as sweet as I believe it would be too overpowering. I found that when piping hot the flavour of tea against the caramel and vanilla were a little at odds with one another. However, when it cooled a bit they balanced very well.

I didn’t try this with any milk, which may have been a mistake. I think the addition of the milk would help to bind the flavours better.

I like the flavor and although this has caramel it is not too sweet.

I should have tried this before I tried Butiki’s Caramel Vanilla Assam. I’m totally spoiled now! Hahahaha.

This really isn’t terrible, though. In fact, by Lipton’s standards, it’s downright delicious. It’s creamy (probably owing to the modified corn starch) and the caramel is there without being totally overpowering or cloyingly sweet. The vanilla takes a bit of a backseat, and the black base has just a bite of astringency to sharpen up the overall flavor.

Not too shabby. My experience with these Pyramid teabags has generally been positive. Now if only Lipton would ditch the industrialized, processed ingredients like the modified corn starch and the soy lecithin and stick to just the tea leaves and the natural flavorings, everything would be golden.

I definitely still prefer Stacy’s amazing Assam, but this stuff is good to have around when the money’s tight.
