Kentish Breakfast Tea is a Loose Leaf Orthodox Black Tea blended exclusively by The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company. Whether you’re a “Man of Kent,” a “Kentish Man” or from somewhere altogether different, you’re bound to love this infusion.

We pack it fresh to order here at – you guessed it – our Kent-based factory, thus ensuring quality and consistency.

What is Kentish Breakfast Tea?
This is a blend of our House Assam GFBOP Tea (Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe) Tea with our Kenilworth Estate Ceylon Tea. Such a combination not only tastes great but will, undoubtedly, serve you well in the hard water areas of the county and beyond.

When brewed, it produces a hearty flavour with malty, biscuity notes – a perfect pairing with a slice of cake or another dessert treat.

The Assam Tea in This Blend
The Indian State of Assam has long produced outstanding Loose Tea. This, of course, includes our Assam Tea, which ultimately finds its way into Kentish Breakfast Tea.

The grade also plays a significant role in its profile and character. It sits between Flowery Orange Pekoe (FOP) and Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP), figuratively speaking – notably containing a high proportion of tips.

The Ceylon Tea in This Blend
The Kenilworth Tea Estate, which is where we get the Ceylon Tea used in Kentish Breakfast Tea, is in the Sri Lankan district of Nuwara Eliya. It is the flagship garden of Watawala Plantations PLC, its name deriving from a castle in Warwickshire, UK.

It covers 603.11 hectares, of which 295.36Ha (49%) is used for Tea cultivation. Abundant rainfall and fertile soil are two factors contributing to the taste of its Tea.

Does This Tea Have Caffeine?
Caffeine is a stimulating chemical compound that exists in around 60 plants. The Camellia sinensis (Tea) plant is one such example, which means that Kentish Breakfast Tea does, indeed, contain caffeine.

But how much? The fact that it is a Loose Black Tea ensures that, on average, it has around 45-mg per 8-oz cup. That should be more than enough to enable you to start the day the right way.

How to Brew it in Four Easy Steps
1, Add Loose Leaf Tea to a Tea Infuser or Filter.

2, Place the Tea-filled accessory in a cup or mug.

3, Put the kettle on and, once boiled, pour it over the leaves.

4, Allow it to steep for 3-5 minutes.

How to Serve: Milk or non dairy milk for tea, sugar, honey or lemon – the choice is yours. Alternatively, serve black.
