Kally Tea’s first “Champagne of teas” offering is this exquisite second flush summer harvested Darjeeling. In our opinion, this has all the exciting earmarks of great Darjeeling tea. If you love (or even if you don’t) Darjeeling tea, once you taste the well balanced level bodied liquor you will agree that this is a must-have to complete your tea collection.

I think I may be in love. Darjeelings are my favorite tea. This may be at least a temporary end to trying to choose a favorite among them. This beats even my beloved Sungma.
All the hallmarks of a second flush, smooth and with a lovely amber yellow color. Hints of malt in the background, maybe. Definitely a muscatel note. The steeped leaves are everything I love about Darjeelings – medium sized leaves with a beautiful mix of brown and green colors.
I do wish that Kally Tea offered more information on the origin, however. I’d like to know what estate this came from or if it is a blend of estates.
I can foresee regretting that I didn’t order more…

Oh darjeeling, how I’ve missed you. Been so caught up in exploring teas I don’t know much about that you’ve been lost in the shuffle as you’re one of the only ones (along with assam) I knew quite well before all this Steepster stuff. But here you are, in all your second flush glory, with that trademark dry woodiness + true flower perfume combo I love and that no other tea possesses. <3 Sometimes, with tea, you CAN go home again, ha.
Do you know why Darjeeling tea types are your favorite ones ? I mean for taste ? (I imagine it’s not just thanks to the steeped leaves :) )
I think it is that, for whatever reason, Darjeeling is in my mind as what tea tastes like. I can’t imagine why. I grew up with bagged Lipton tea and occasionally bagged Luzianne when visiting my grandparents. I imagine my first Darjeeling probably was tasted at a high tea. Maybe that is part of it – the memory of high teas and the good company I have had at them. All I know is that when I think of “tea taste” I think of Darjeelings. The whole experience of it is also what appeals to me. The taste, the smell – both dry and steeped – and the look of the leaves.
