Nantou Four Seasons

A resteep with the leaves from earlier. I don’t think I resteeped last time (again, I seriously messed up the steep), so I figured it was only fair to give it a chance this time around.

There’s more floral tones to the smell this time and less of the vegetal edge. Oddly it tastes more vegetal, like sweetened asparagus (does that sound gross? I promise it’s not!) with a light floral aftertaste. It’s slightly bitter this time around and I don’t think I’ll steep this one again, but I don’t regret doing it this time.

Green Oolongs have become my favorite teas recently. I remember the very first time I had one (an Iron Goddess, I think) I didn’t like it at all!. Strange how preference changes. My perfect oolong is a balanced blend of creamy and floral. This Nantou Four seasons is perfectly creamy, but I wish it was more floral. It hints at wanting to be more, but didn’t quite make it. Still a lovely cup of tea and one that I would drink often if I had more.

Ooh, this I like! I’m not usually too big on green oolongs and I don’t think I’ve had a Four Season oolong before – but this is so good! Light, but flavorful – slightly floral and very creamy. The texture almost reminds me of a milk oolong I’ve had before. Looking forward to several steeps and having this possibly show up on my shopping list.

Steep Information:
Amount: 4 tsp
Water: 1000ml at 200°F
Tool: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker BTM800XL
Steep Time: 3 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: roasty, vegetal, hints sweet and floral
Steeped Tea Smell: sweet, floral
Flavor: sweet, floral, with a nutty,roasty and vegetal finish
Body: Light
Aftertaste: roasty, slightly astringent
Liquor: translucent light yellow green

Very nice oolong, i prefer a silky mouthfeel to this slightly gritty one, but the flavor combination (sweet, floral and roasty) is what i love and expect from oolongs.

Resteep:
1000ml at 200°F for 3 minutes 30 seconds
more yellow brown than yellow green
less sweet, still delicious

A little washed out, not sure how many more steeps it can do, but work day is almost over so i may not find out.

this is a good Four Seasons…one of the few green oolong teas I enjoy…110ml gaiwan 8g tea…

oh yumminess! this particular tea is particularly floral, so much so that the scent of the tea brewing was making me anticipate a perfume-y (yucky) taste once i sipped…but no! hooray! just a thick rich oolong flavor accented with the floral notes in quite a delicate manner. just yummy.

This came in my Steepster select box. This is a green oolong, and therefore lighter than I normally like my oolongs. However, it’s very pleasant and has that soothing quality I associate with oolongs. It starts off light, but then finishes darker. Delicious.

Very mild, with almost a milky flavor. Light- to medium-bodied, but kindof one-note to me, didn’t taste or smell the florals that were described. Fine flavor, just a bit one-note for me. 6.5/10, would drink again, just a bit boring compared to some other teas.

I really enjoyed this tea very much. I was concerned that the subtle umami flavor of this tea was a product of something undelightful, but that flavor is nice. I would really like this tea with lighter vegetarian noodle dishes and brothy soups as well. Yum!

Got this in my first Steepstar box. Really, really lovely, with a delicious aroma and smooth finish. After drinking it during an afternoon slump I felt rejuvenated.
