Description: Just Arrived for 2009 Spring harvest! From the least populated eastern part of Taiwan, this fine green tea will grab your heart the second you feel the aroma and the elegance in the liquor! “Hao Xian” means the tender leaves were harvested for the best aroma, and “Bi Lu” describes the green tea nature and the beautiful liquor color.
Made of Da-Yieh (big-leaf) oolong which is only planted now in eastern Taiwan, the green tea was hand harvested and de-stemed (like bao zhong or yen cha). The fact that the tea farm was organically managed in a very pristine environment gave this tea a truly sensational aroma and taste: ethereal, pleasant, with not only a nutty-like aroma reminding me of Long Jin (Dragon Well), but a layer of honey-like sweetness and refined creaminess. Liquor is light yellow with a touch of greenness. Crystal-clear liquor. Taste is very freshing and soft.

This is a great example of what the Da-Yieh cultivar can express as a green tea. There’s lots of honey, raw nuts, and orchid florals. Not as pungent as similar oolongs, but still very expressive and juicy. I wonder if this tea is basket-fired, because it has a distinct, but fleeting, charcoal character in the back of the throat. While this is a delicious tea, in the end, it may be a bit pricey for the overall experience.
