Moose Tracks Black Tea

A sample from Miss B I’m almost through the box of samples she sent me now – there was so much in it I thought I’d never find the bottom! I didn’t read any reviews or the description before I brewed this one up, and surprisingly I came out pretty close to the mark with my initial thoughts. In the tsp I used, I could see coconut shreds, slivers of almond, and a coffee bean amongst the black tea base. I gave it approximately 3.5 minutes in boiling water, and added a splash of milk.

To taste, I’m getting coffee and chocolate in the initial sip – very reminiscent of a mocha, although not as intense. There’s a nuttiness in the mid-sip, and a rich smoothness that could just about be caramel. The base is fairly robust and deliciously malty, so even though the coffee flavour is fairly prominent, you never forget that you’re actually drinking tea. When it comes to coffee-flavoured tea, that’s the way I like it.

I’m enjoying this one. It’s definitely different, and it’s making for a good wake-up cup. I’ve tried maybe one or two coffee-flavoured teas before, but this is definitely my favourite so far. It’s not too overpowering, it’s still decidedly tea, and the nutty-chocolate flavours work really well. I’d buy more of this one.

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – January 2024 Tea #7 – January 20 – National Coffee Break Day

Saddest of sipdowns here today.  Uh, these flavors are still melding together so so well.  It’s like a syrupy, almondy, hazelnutty, coconutty, chocolatey, sweet coffee dream.  The coconut is still amazing!  Because of its longevity I will raise the rating from 90.  I will really miss this one.  I think it is most like a tea I had from adagio, but I forget which… maybe Reichenbach Recovery.  I see that has caramel and hazelnut but it also has bergamot.  So this tea seems like the adagio if it didn’t have the bergamot.  Probably if I mix the above adagio flavors from this blend it will remind me of this tea, especially as the base black teas also taste the same/have similar depth.   The Herbal Infusions website it still up!  This tea is still on there!  All is not lost!  Hopefully I will get to have this tea again one day.

So… Coffee? Na, this is a smooth black tea with notes of caramel and nuts. Absolutely smooth and tasty. Fantastic cup of tea. I may end up buying some of this actually. Surprising taste

Somehow, I bought this tea about two years ago now (possibly shorter, but I think that’s about right), and never opened it. Huh?

As I’m going through all of my teas (yes, ALL of them), I’m making sure I have what I say I have, and removing the ones that have disappeared from my tea cupboard on Steepster. It’s quite the project…. so if I haven’t tried something, and I have it, well, I’m trying it. If I love it, I’ll drink it. If I don’t absolutely LOVE it, I’m passing it along. This tea? Passing it along.

Why? Well, it’s very much a coffee tea – which isn’t a bad thing. I’d call it a mocha tea, really, and it’s quite creamy, nutty, coffee-ish, with some chocolate in there to boot. Nice, yes. Rich and flavorful. If I want coffee though, I’d prefer to drink coffee, if that makes any sense. I guess this technically IS coffee, as there are bits of coffee beans in it. Still, it’s not a “madly in love” tea, so it’s off to the sale box. Woohoo!

Caveat Emptor! This company does not have their act together. My order was either never sent or lost in the mail, it took anywhere from a few hours to two weeks for them to answer emails, and when I finally got my order after six weeks, one of the items was missing.

So, I’m not a huge fan of coffee, but I really like everything else in this blend, so I decided to give it a try. At first I was disappointed. It mostly tastes sweet, with a light coffee flavor. But, as I sipped it, I started liking it better. It’s really smooth, not bitter at all, and tastes kind of creamy. I still feel that someone who likes coffee might enjoy this better, but it’s an interesting change of pace.

i’m wearing press-on nails. i’m addicted. (moraiwe, if you read this and wanna talk nail stuff email me wink wink!) i tried them once before and was not good at them, but now i totally get it. oddree and i go on vacation to the beach next week and i have my glitter and neon nails picked out and my kindle fanfic loaded.

It’s still crazy for my brain when I drink a tea that taste like coffee.

This reminds me of instant flavored coffee or coffee with flavored creamer: Hazelnut and Chocolate. I can also see how moraiwe says it taste like chocolate covered espresso beans. I think I like it enough to order more; I’m just not sure if it will be 50g or another sample size. I plan on trying it iced to help decide the size. It’s still weird how much this reminds me of flavored coffee.
Edit: Yum, just made it iced. I’m going to be buying at least a 50g bag before Summer gets here.

I dunno guys….I really want to love this one, but it came out weak. I don’t know if it is a brewing issue or whether the milk I added affected it. It’s far from horrible, but nowhere as rich as I had expected.

I don’t remember my exact steeping, but I think it was about 2 tsp (to fill 2 travel mugs) and probably about 3 minutes each steep. As per usual, I split the first steep between the two mugs and did the same with the second steep. I do it like this to reduce having one mug of weaker tea.

I’ll try it again, soon, but without the milk, perhaps.
