From Harney & Sons

A hearty black tea, bursting with Mango flavor. Close your eyes and you might think you are in the tropics. Terrific hot, but just as wonderful over ice.

I had a bag of delicious Teavana mango black mixed with limeade twist a long time ago, and I bought some limeade twist on eBay and a tin of this to try to recreate that flavor. I strongly dislike the limeade twist on its own, and it pretty much overpowers this tea too, so I guess I didn’t succeed. I don’t love fruity black teas, and I didn’t love this one, so I guess that fits. I didn’t buy it to drink on its own, so I won’t leave a rating. I’ll just say that this tea is pretty weak compared to other teas of this variety.

Some teas that are mediocre are great cold steeped in lemonade, though.

From my swap with AJRimmer!

I’m not always the biggest fan of tropical fruit in black tea – to me, it pairs much better with green oolongs, greens, or even whites. I prefer my fruity black teas to be more on the side of red fruits, or stonefruit, or berries.

But here we are! The base tea here is surprisingly earthy, even to the point of tasting a bit mineral. It’s not a bad thing necessarily, just unexpected for a fruity tea. The flavoring tastes like a combination of mango and passion fruit, and there’s a little bit of a floral note.

Overall, it’s fine. It’s probably a good choice for someone who likes tropical black teas, although the base tea is a bit unusual.

I was looking for a good iced tea ans mango seemed like a good one to try so I got a sample. It smelled really good in the bag and it has one chuck of dried mango on the sample i got. I did first and second steeps and they both tasted differently. I enjoyed the second steep much better. First steep tasted like a black tea with a hint of a fruity flavor but not specifically mango. The second steep had more of a fruity taste and the black tea wasn’t as strong which was more what I was looking for. I don’t think I would buy more but I will enjoy the rest of what I have.

OMG….I don’t even want to know how long it’s been since I’ve reviewed a tea…wouldn’t be surprised if it’s around this time last Winter.

I got this tea as a Christmas present from my uncle, a pleasant surprise, as I didn’t know he knew I was a tea drinker. I had also gotten White Christmas Tea, and Raspberry Black tea from Harney, as well as a nice teapot set in silverplate with a beautiful tray. I going to have to have myself a little tea party soon to break it in.

On to this tea:
Opening the tin, out comes a sharp, sweet mango-y scent that makes me almost impatient to get this brewed so I can drink it. While, as usuall…I am not sure I would want more of this after the tea is gone, I think at the very least I will enjoy this tin. Slightly astringent, but not at all unpleasant…my misgivings have more to do with the fact that I am not sure I would reach for this one very often. But I don’t know, the end of this tin could be that I have to buy another.

Meh, using my kindle fire to write this review, and I can’t adjust the rating, so will have to wait til I am on my laptop this evening…I’m thinking somewhere in the high 70’s. like 77.

So great. Makes a superb iced tea. We used to drink this whenever we had lunch at the late, great Takashimaya New York. Nice, fruity natural mango flavor, not too perfumy. You still know you’re drinking a black tea. Can’t say enough good things about this tea – one of my favorites!

This tea has a perfumed aroma, almost more floral than fruity. The taste is a bit subdued. A little sugar or sweetener helps bring out the mango flavor, which remains subtle. A little cream is fine and does not overwhelm the flavor. I have found that many flavored teas add too much flavor and cease to really taste like actual tea. This tea does not do that. It is a decent cup of tea with a hint of mango flavor, well worth a taste.

I regularly purchase the Iced Tea version, which comes with 10 quart tea bags. The tea is refreshingly sweet without sugar and very smooth. I like to add lots of mint and a slice of lemon or mango for decoration. A strong flavored black tea, beautiful amber color, lovely for summer.
