From Harney & Sons

Organic Green with Coconut (formerly known as Bangkok) presents an exotic escape, transporting the green tea lover to distant realms of the Orient in its mingling of coconut, ginger, and lemongrass. The sweet scent of coconut abounds and the smooth taste is a gentle ginger lingering with a trace of coconut.

This is my first of Harney & Sons’ bottled tea line.

First of all, the flavor is light and it isn’t over-sweetened like most bottled teas I’ve tried. In fact, there are only 10 grams of sugar in the whole bottle. The taste immediately makes me think of pairing it with Thai food and how this would go well with panang curry, tom kha gai, or pad Thai.

There is enough lemongrass in this to be the dominant flavor, which is nice, but I was expecting a bit more coconut. The vanilla falls short, as well as the ginger. There is barely a hint of it, so sadly no ginger burn. The green tea might as well be water, because you can’t taste that at all, either. It’s like it’s just there for color. Anyway, it’s refreshing and different, but if you’re looking for a tea that tastes like tea, you might want to try something else.

I saw my local grocery store carried this. I knew I had to pick one up. Madison’s review goes along the lines of how I feel about this tea. There is coconut in this tea, but it’s the young coconut flavor, which I am not a fan. I drank the bottle. It was not what I thought it would be.

I like Honest Tea bottled, but this? Nah, I’ll pass.

Wow! I’m a fan of green tea and coconut, but never thought they’d be good together. This is a great tea! A nice blend, the coconut follows the green in a pronounced way. Not the sweet kind of coconut, a real coconut-milk flavor without the heaviness. I really enjoyed it! A nice treat if you want something iced and light but not sugary or rich.

When you picked it up and you look at the ingredients the bottle says on the front… coconut and ginger. Sounds wonderful. After taking my first sip I thought that the tea might have been a bad bottle cause the ginger tasted off… but I looked at the back and the first ingredient after tea is LEMON GRASS… then coconut. No Ginger flavor is even listed as being in the bottle. That’s probably what they had to call ‘natural flavoring’ on the back.
The tea itself is ok. Nothing to get excited over.
But the reason I’m writing this is because the bottle is misrepresenting what is inside…. and THAT really gets my goat.
