From Harney & Sons

A decaf version of our very popular Paris blend. Nighttime tea lovers can now enjoy this fruity black tea with vanilla, caramel, and bergamot flavors and still get a good night’s sleep.

Mike has spent many a fine day and a few nights enjoying the charms of Paris. In fact, his wife, Brigitte, is from Paris. So when he got the chance to return the favor, he created this lovely fruity blend. Like the city (and also his wife), it is very complex. However the results are very popular!

Dry Leaves: This complex tea is the blend of three teas, the leaves are black.

Liquor: The liquor is medium to dark brown.

Aroma: This tea smells like an Earl Grey with black currant and vanilla aromas and a hint of caramel.

Caffeine Level: Decaffeinated

Body: This tea has a light body because it is blended with decaffeinated black tea.

Flavors: Similar to the aroma, this tea smells sweet like caramel and has a fruity flavor of black currants. You can also taste a hint of vanilla.

Brewing Time: 4 to 5 minutes

Brewing Temperature: 212° F

I keep waiting to be impressed by a H&S tea, but it hasn’t happened yet and this tea is no exception to that trend. It smelled a little caramel like, but I’m not really getting that in the taste. The beginning of the sips are perfumy and joined by a sharp bergamot taste. I’m left with a dry mouth. This tea is not balanced very well with sharp high notes.

I keep reading “Master Tea Blenders” on H&S’s bags and think, “Realy?! Says who?!”. Prove it.

I thought to pick this tea out tonight because I was looking for something decaf and I noticed OMGsrsly drank the caffeinated version. Today I am noticing the bergamot, the vanilla and the caramel in this. It is pretty good for decaf tea. I have a lot of this and if anyone want a sample feel free to pm me, we can work out a swap or what have you. It is about a year old but stored properly.

I brewed this once in an 18oz teapot with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 3 min.

Yup, that’s a good one!

I’ve heard this one can be quite different. I mostly get fruit and bergamot from regular Paris, the caramel and vanilla must offer something but I don’t really notice them.

AllanK

I was noticing the caramel and vanilla tonight.

I like this one too

I am sad this is all gone now…
It’s one of the best decafs I have. I will likely get more some day but for now, it would be good for me to keep away from Harney and Sons and focus on drinking more of my current stash.

They seem to do decaf well then. I’ve only tried their Vanilla Comoro and I can see why it’s raved so much.

I like this better than VC, but yes they do decafs better than most, I think :)
