Had for morning tea today. Feel so bad not saying more about it—aside from a lighter-than-usual (for Keemuns) note of sweet honey instead of heavy cocoa, it had a neat subtly wine-y grape element you don’t always find in Keemuns, that intensified as it cooled and was very apparent when sniffing the spent leaves—but this has been a nuts Monday morning return to work, alas.

Tea of the morning…..

This is the other fancy tea in my tea splurge. I know there is something close to this in the database, but the listing was 4 years old, and the name is ever so slightly different. I just made it a new place here in Steepsterverse to be on the safe side.

This is very good. Light cocoa, honey, and this has more of a breadiness than the Anji black. There is also not as much body to this one. If I had to pick between the two, the Anji would win. I only wish they had more. I will happily drink this, but I am not sure I will be running back for more. In this price range, a tea has to be very special for me to buy it.

Usual mug method. Will try a resteep!

Since you’re drinking tea, I guess storms detoured around you. Did they get near your area?

Not bad at all here. Just a little windy. We did have a tornado go through our neighborhood several years ago. It was also a weird Sunday in November kind of a storm. There was property damage about 2 blocks away, but it missed us. Feeling very lucky!

Since ours was in May, we were hot and miserable while doing damage cleanup…I hurt for the folks who are cold and miserable doing the same.

I agree. I feel that there is never a good time for such tragedy. However, when it does happen, it is amazing to see how the human spirit works through it coming out stronger on the other side, and the kindness and generosity of others. It restores your faith in humanity.

Breakfast tea this morning. I liked this. It is a lighter amber and a lighter body than most keemun I’ve had, but has a nice aroma – very slight honey with more pronounced malt and “keemun-ness.” This one is more subtle that a lot of keemuns, very little smoke. There is a winey aftertaste that I quite like. While I like for my morning tea to be a little more assertive and full bodied, I think is a perfect afternoon keemun. I tried a sample and have probably another round to go. I don’t get much of a character change as it cools down. Due to the fact that I have a LOT of keemun, I’m not sure I would order more, but that shouldn’t be seen as a knock on this tea. It is good but it is not as full as I normally like my keemun. I would probably think of this as a “gateway” keemun for those who find other keemuns a little too agressive.
