From Golden Moon Tea

Freshly picked green leaves are layered with aromatic jasmine petals, which impart their piquant aroma. When the Tea Master determines the precise moment of flavor perfection, the leaves are fully fired and dried to preserve complexity.

This fine-quality, jasmine loose leaf tea is exquisitely crafted by hand to bring out the full flavor of the tea leaves along with the exotic fragrance of the jasmine flowers. A smooth, elegant tea of refinement and character. Also makes a delightful iced tea.

Intense Jasmine fragrance. Surprisingly, it doesn’t overwhelm the green tea underlying it. The two combine very well. The tea is light, fragrant without being overwhelming and does not have any sort of “chemical” harshness that I’ve detected in lesser Jasmine Tea’s (from artificial flavoring??). 3 minutes @ 200deg

I’m down to my last few Golden Moon samples and had stepped away from it for a bit but I’m back to them :) It’s really hot today and I just wasn’t in the mood for my usual teas. I wanted something lighter.
This hits the spot. The jasmine is very refreshing. The taste is light rather then overbearing. The scent is also refreshing. If you want a hot tea on a hot day, I think this one hits the spot.

Edit: I did a second steep and there is a oolong buttery scent that surprised me a bit (pleasant surprise). It’s also in the taste as well. Cool- first taste is jasmine, second is oolong. Very fun.

Powerful jasmine aroma and beautifully formed dark olive/white-striped pearls. Steeped tea has lovely sweet notes with a lighter jasmine aroma. I sometimes find floral teas too fragrant, which affects my enjoyment of the tea; this tea has a nice balance. 2nd steeping a bit muted in aroma and flavor but still pretty good.

Good clean jasmine taste, not overpowering or artificial. Lovely & floral.

Well, having gotten a couple of emails by now about Golden Moon changing the way they do things, I’m looking at the couple of old sample pouches I have left and feeling bemused. I’m not sure what the point of sampling is if they’re going to have all new tea! But at least it’s a sipdown.

This is fine, but I’ve had better jasmines. The floral flavor is intense at the start of the sip and then just disappears. There’s a hint of sweetness but it’s also there and gone, and the base is lackluster. Luckily I’ve already found several jasmines I love, because this is not going to be added to that list.

The pearls are neat – small, slightly fizzy and striped with dark green and silver when they were dry. The leaves were a bit slow to unwind and the first steep at two minutes was a little bland. A second steep (@3:15 min) gave the leaves more of a chance to unfurl and the end result almost looked like a bunch of curls. I found the flavour was fuller and much improved on the second steep as well.

This tea is fairly similar to the jasmine green all told – there’s maybe a bit more substance to the base and a bit more character but to be honest in my opinion both of them are nothing special. Part of that I think is because I’m generally not a fan of jasmine teas (Harney & Sons’ Dragon Pearl Jasmine being the only exception) and that biases me against them somewhat.

Well, I guess I get to be the poop again. I thought this was wonderful Jasmine and the second infusion better than the first.
