From Golden Moon Tea

“There’s mystery to the art of finding and freeing the floral aroma and rich flavor of a pouchong tea. But the reasons Golden Moon’s Coconut Pouchong is noticeably better than others are pretty simple.

Real coconut makes this South Pacific treat buttery, smooth, and sweet.

It’s the unusually long, elegant leaves of this South Pacific delicacy that give the tea its light, slightly floral, and calming taste. As for that hint of tropical sweetness? We’ve got the nectar of young coconuts to thank.

Our Pouchong is grown in the Fujian Province, just outside of the Wuyi Mountains. The farm is located on sunbaked land that is mostly mountainous and is traditionally described to be "Eight parts mountain, one part water, and one part farmland.” That’s how we get a tea leaf with smooth floral notes, a light body, and a sweet finish.
Coconut Pouchong uses only real extract. In order to extract the coconut naturally, we start with real coconuts and roast, shred, and steep them for over one week. We then strain the coconut pieces leaving only pure coconut extract that is both smooth and buttery.

1) Bring fresh, filtered water to 180°F
2) Pour over your tea leaves in a teapot (1 spoonful of tea per serving)
3) Steep 3 minutes
4) Stir, strain, and enjoy!

I think this is my favourite coconut tea so far! It’s just enough coconut to make me happy, and still let me enjoy the base. Beautifully light floral notes and a pleasant texture make it even more appealing. Thank you so much to the witty mj1851 :D

Backlog from yesterday

I decided to revisit this tea after having Golden Moon’s Sugar Caramel Oolong earlier yesterday. I like this one more. The leaf is definitely green and floral, but the coconut blends with that in a wonderful way.

I would definitely consider restocking this once I run out. However, since I have it so rarely that probably won’t be for a while!

I’m gonna keep this quick, as fruit flavored teas are not my thing:
Incredibly delicious coconut smell. The taste pairs wonderfully with the light floral of the pouchong. It’s really surprsing how well the two pair as I was sort of expecting the very strong coconut smell to overpower the tea. It leaves a really dry feeling in the mouth and throat after 5 infusions or so gongfu style. Otherwise, really nice light flavor with a generous amount of coconut that surprisingly seems like just the right amount.

Sipdown of a very old sample, not even sure who sent it to me at this point!

I enjoyed this though, it reminded me a lot of Davidstea’s version of coconut oolong (the pre-lemongrass edition). Which I love and hoarded.

This type of tea is everything I want when I crave a coconut tea, that is to say it’s creamy, buttery and super coconutty! The buttery base definitely lends itself well to this sort of flavoring.

Since it’s so similar to the DT old version which I still have plenty of, I wouldn’t need to own this one, but I enjoyed it just as much. Thanks to whoever sent it long ago in my pre baby days!

T&C TTB #19

I had a cup of this last night. I think I am learning that I really have to be in the mood for flavored oolongs as well as coconut. This was nice, but nothing that knocked my socks off. I could see this being really good iced. I don’t think this is something I would purchase, but I am glad for the opportunity to try it.

When I opened this package, I was overwhelmed by a strong piña colada scent and I was a little scared.
The leaves are large, slightly twisted, and mixed colors of dark brown and moss green.
But after I brewed this Oolong, it tasted pretty good!! The Oolong gives a pineapple scent and flavor then the accent of the coconut makes it taste very island drink like but in a hot tea. The scent when you bring your nose up to the cup is spot on piña colada.
No bitterness or greenness to the Oolong either.
This is a great one for people who like flavored teas and especially piña colada.

Oh, boy…I’m a fan of this. There’s a great, smooth – almost buttery – note from the tea that layers in under the creamy coconut flavours. The mouthfeel is also buttery and lingers for a comfortingly long while; it’s the perfect sort of thing to sip while doing emails and puttering around on the computer.

It almost reminds me of freshly-baked shortbread cookies in all the best ways. Delicious, addictive and all kinds of wonderful…I’d drink as much of it as I could wrangle up. :)

I love this tea. I’ve had it a few times, and it is just so smooth. The coconut is not overwhelming in the slightest, and it works beautifully with the green tea. It is much more mild than you would expect when you take the lid off. A delicious tea.

This tea makes my taste buds happy. I can definitely tell that they used coconut milk in their recipe instead of flavoring because it doesn’t have that chemical taste that some coconut flavorings have. Combined with the Pouchong, it gives it an almost nutty flavor that rolls down the tastebuds pleasingly.
