Organic Loose Leaf Orchid Tieguanyin Oolong | Honey and Orchid

Complex and compelling. We’d even say better than the first!

We know what you are thinking, this Orchid Tieguanyin also known as “Orchid Goddess of Compassion” is not what you were expecting. Actually, it is better than you thought! It is spirited and smooth, gentler than others with a brilliant green infusion and the beautiful aroma of orchids, a touch of fresh pine shoots and floral aromas of peach and honey, and distinctive dark leaves with silver tips. Essentially this is the best cup of tea you’ll ever find in the Geek+Tea universe, and once you’ve had it you just can’t help but wanting more.

Geek+Tea needed art to match the wit and humour of its name. Fred Dunn’s watercolour and tea art painting uses bold colours and humour to communicate the experience of having tea with such a marvelous character. Art by Fred Dunn. Find him and prints of Deadpoolong 2 at FanExpo 2019 booth A410.

Grandpa style…

So, let me first say that I think Grandpa style was not the most advisable way to steep this oolong. That much seems very clear from my experience. It was just unfortunately not a very nice tasting cup; the florals were there but the oolong was very sharp and acridly grassy with astringent and bitter finishing notes.

My gut feeling is that, in general, it’s probably not a super amazing TGY but I think this method of brewing likely just highlighted some of the areas where it would have already been rough around the edges. I’ll learn from this for next time, though!
