From Friday Afternoon

Starry-Eyed Dreamer is a special blend supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. For every ounce of tea, $3 is donated to the MDA to fund life-saving research and provide critical care services for people affected by neuromuscular disease.

Our friend Danielle was the heart of so many communities. She was warm and open, creative and hilarious, and keenly adept at making everyone around her feel seen as individuals of worth. We never had an encounter that wasn’t full of mischievous smiles, creative sparks and truly perfect manicures. Above all else, Danielle sparkled in her soul. We are lucky and grateful to have known her, hosted her art, worked and played with her and generally soaked her up. She lived so vividly and we will celebrate her always.

This tea is the custom blend Danielle and I made together to celebrate her Ms. Wheelchair Washington coronation. It’s juicy and highly caffeinated and possibly the most goth glam extra thing I’ve ever had the pleasure to blend. We’ll keep this recipe on file indefinitely for Danielle’s friends and family and will continue to drink it in her memory. You can find some of Danielle’s artwork on the MDA gallery page!

Ingredients: Black tea, white tea, blueberry, blue butterfly peaflower, purple lustre dust, natural vanilla flavoring

Free sample from my order.

It’s fine. I’m not really tasting much blueberry, which makes sense given there are just a few freeze-dried berries and no flavoring. Mostly I taste the white tea, which is quite fresh and almost vegetal, plus a bit of mustiness from the butterfly pea flower. Perhaps a hint of the vanilla.

Not a fan, and the inclusion of butterfly pea flower and glitter certainly doesn’t help my opinion. But you can’t argue with free, and I do appreciate when companies include samples!

This was a free sample and I didn’t measure the leaf so that’s on me for why it ended up slightly over-steeped. I can see a bit of the glitter and it’s pretty! The blueberry is relatively mild, and I couldn’t pinpoint that flavor specifically. The white tea is still quite pleasant but I wouldn’t order this one. It’s kind of boring and white teas just aren’t my favorite. Glad I got the chance to try it though!
