From Fava Tea Company

The first thing that will captivate you with our Chocolate Macaron Black tea is the smooth, creamy, slightly-sweet chocolaty smell. Like a fresh made chocolate pastry, such as brownies, chocolate chip cookies or even chocolate cake – It smells like desert in a cup!

The flavor of Chocolate Macaron Black has a sweet undertone with slight hints of spice underneath a warm, melted, chocolate flavor. Kind of reminiscent of Mexican hot chocolate with a sweet, smooth, creamy chocolate taste and cinnamon essence folded into the drink. Or possibly of melted chocolate ice cream on a hot summer day! Chocolate Macaron Black has a definite warm, delicious, dessert feel; Perfect drink to have on a fold, winter day!

Another free sample in my latest Fava purchase. I’m generally not a fan of chocolate teas and this one is unfortunately no exception. (The only ones I remember really enjoying had either a puerh or yerba mate base…I think my palate needs the earthiness of those teas to keep the chocolate flavoring from tasting thin.) This one does smell really nice (like brownies baking!) but the flavor is light and watery, not the rich, sweet chocolate goodness promised by the aroma. I’ll try adding milk to the second half of my sample to see if that improves matters, but probably won’t ever be purchasing this one.
