This is a tasty but smoky tea. I brewed this one western style this morning and added some of the tangerine peel. I don’t know how smoky it would have been had I used only leaves. I only used about a gram of tangerine peel or less and it is quite smoky. It is a pleasant smoky though. It is good. If you have never tried tangerine peel puerh it is different, almost but not quite another class of puerh. The best way I can describe it is that it is a sweet smokiness as opposed to a plain smokiness.

I brewed this tea one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 9g leaf and 1g tangerine peel with boiling water for 30 sec after giving it a ten second rinse.

Unfortunately due to the calcium channel blocker I take, citrus stored Sheng is off limits for me. So I silently enjoy it while reading reviews and try to imagine the flavor.

I did not know citrus would interfere with that.

Cwyn

Citrus will triple the efficacy of calcium channel blockers. Apparently one of the components interacts with the citrus which prevents the clearing of the drug from the body. All medications are eliminated from the body up to a certain point, and dosages are based on the doctor knowing the stats of how much is automatically eliminated. So the dosage is based on how much you need versus how much will get naturally flushed out. If the flushing has interference, there is no way to know how much is too much. Also, the effect from the citrus can last 3-5 days. I’ve thought about going off the pill for a number of days in order to consume something citrus (like the fruit my sister sent me from Florida), and then wait another 5 days to start up the pill again. But when I go off the pill I swell up from water congestion and it is too uncomfortable.
