Sipdown Theme #1: a Chai

I have so many chai tea variants in my tea cabinet right now that I will definitely need to work on some sipdown for this one this month. Other than that, on my breaks, I have been playing a new game that came out on switch today called ooblets. It is really cozy and great. Kind of like animal crossing or stardew Valley but with a simple card game thrown in the mix. Would highly recommend if you are into cozy switch games.

Preparation: Western
Tasting Note: I got this as a sample from deb. It surprised me. I didn’t think I would like a christmas, thanksgiving cranberry salad chai type tea and I was really wrong. It isn’t very strong hibiscus or cranberry so if that sort of tartness throws you off this will be ok. The spicing is good and isn’t overpowering but is still there. It smells like this cranberry christmas mead I bought from a local meadery in MN not too long ago and it really scratches that itch of having that again. I might change my mind on this tea in the future but I think it is certainly worth a try if you want some lighter christmas vibes in September.

Sipdown! (45 | 142)

This one was decent, but it tastes pretty much the same as all of Deb’s other strawberry green tea variations. The ginger does add a little interest, but I’m not sure it improves it overall.

Anyway, it’s fine but I’m glad to have finished it off.

I’ve been feeling like I need to slowly work my way back into the habit of snapping photos for each tea. For now, I’m probably going to try for at least one of these posts a week. If nothing else it’s an excuse to highlight some of the types of tea I drink that don’t always get the spotlight here on IG, and to show off a little more of my shockingly large teaware collection…

I normally don’t love all the variations of mono-flavoured tea bases that Deb blends overtop (strawberry green, blueberry black, etc) because they taste too similar to one another and start to feel repetitive, but this one is an exception. The addition of ginger and cardamom adds a really lively, aromatic spice component to this blend and with the added hibiscus it tastes much more like cranberry than it does strawberry, like it actually is. I love those weird flavour mind tricks. It’s bright, juicy and also cozy and autumnal. Enjoyed this mug a lot.

I honestly don’t remember this one but have gotten most of Deb’s teas so hmm, do you remember when this was from? Sounds like something I’d love!

A very unique spicing combination here, although there was some familiarity to it – I can’t pinpoint what it’s reminding me of, though. Also drank it a few too many days ago to be able to describe it, but it’s a nice combination, a bit fruity, and not too heavily spiced. I look forward to future cups.
