From Design a Tea

I look down the driveway the other night and I see a pumpkin staring at me. Next thing I know it rolls up to me and is all in my face! He says that because people have been hacking away at pumpkins for centuries that they (the pumpkins) deserve their own tea blend!!! Couldn’t make the connection there… BUT he was angry and I was afraid for my life– I’m not kidding!! So we negotiated a “traditional Fall blend”. He also demanded that some of the proceeds go to the National Foundation of Pumpkin Reconstruction

Brian from Desgin a Tea sent me a few sample bags today.
This was one of them.
Thank you Brian of Design a Tea for this nice surprise!
This is a nice nutmeg and pumpkin blend.
The nutmeg does take the lead role in this tea (don’t let the angry pumpkin know this!!) but the pumpkin does come through nicely.
I especially love Brian’s fun descriptions for his teas!
I could totally sip on this on any cold evening cuddled up on the sofa.

hehe I love that name! I especially like the “Don’t let the angry pumpkin know this” made me laugh :D

Nik

Well obviously that’s why pumpkin’s angry! Silly nutmeg, stealing the spotlight… :D

I received this as one of several samples with my last Design a Tea order. Thank you, Brian, for the generosity!

Yesterday was a near perfect summer day for me. I spent the day at the beach with my kids, my best friend, and her kids. Last night I went to a baseball game (I love baseball) where my team managed to come back in the ninth inning for a spectacular win. Great friends, good food, wonderful weather… it was lovely. So I was surprised by my desire for all things fall today. I find myself daydreaming about apples and cinnamon, cooler weather and sweaters. When I went digging through my tea stash for an autumn inspired tea this one was the easy winner.

The tea is spicy – mostly nutmeg – with the pumpkin being much more subtle. I like that the tea doesn’t scream pumpkin (even though it is called Angry Pumpkin) and that the tea manages to have spice without tasting like a chai. It’s unique and really nice. Definitely something I could enjoy on a cool fall evening. Add a blanket and a good mystery novel and I’d be one happy girl!

My pumpkin tea quest continues. This is advertised as pumpkin and clove. Strange, but I knew that when I ordered it. Dry it smelled like TONS of clove, so I cracked a couple of cardamom pods and dumped them in with the leaf and steeped in boiling for 5 minutes.
Too much spice, not enough pumpkin. That seems to be a reoccurring theme in my quest. Most pumpkin spice/chai teas are all about the spice and not about the pumpkin. I just want to find one that actually tastes like pumpkin.
This really isn’t that bad. It’s nice and clovey – I really liked the cardamom addition, but the quest continues.

Try Stash decaf pumpkin spice.

I admit, I’m jealous of the coffee drinkers who go to Starbucks for Pumpkin Spiced Lattes as soon as they are available. I wanted a pumpkin tea equivalent, but hadn’t had any luck… until now.

I think I have found my fall pumpkin tea. I’d gone through several and this is the tastiest yet. Unlike some of the others, it actually tastes like pumpkin! And it tastes like spiced pumpkin.

It is delicious and the flavor comes through nicely without being overwhelming or artificial tasting.

Sipdown (115)!

Thanks Marizipan for the sample! I saved this one to drink on Halloween ‘cause it seemed so perfectly suited to the holiday! When I made it, I added just a bit of milk ’cause I expected it to be rather spicy and I thought that’s help tone things down a notch.

I was quite happy, ‘cause when I took my first sips I was flooded with this beautiful, thick clove flavour! Man, I love cloves and this was so heavy on that! Best surprise ever. And then, that milk added a nice richness and thickness to this so even though I mostly was only getting that one flavour it still felt like a very “full” tea. I’m curious though; why is the pumpkin is angry? If I tasted like cloves, I’d be a very happy pumpkin…

I loooooove cloves. I always buy that clove gum whenever I find it and when I smoked, clove cigarettes were my favorite.

This is more of a clove and nutmeg tea with a black base.
Two of my favorite spices.
The pumpkin is not really recognizable it is so light, but oh I love the clove!
Reminds me of the clove gum, but the flavor is a bit more complex than the gum.
I really like this.

Like Dexter3657, who gave this sample to me, I only get clove and cardamom out of this – zero pumpkin. Too bad, because it had potential for a lovely chai-like pumpkin tea! It’s still drinkable, just less so than the cup of amazingness (Indian Nimbu) next to it.

1.5 tsp in 12 oz.

Flavors: Cloves

200 °F / 93 °C 2 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

Maybe angry pumpkins don’t taste like much… lol
