Today’s new start, and the perfect thing to cheer up a dull Tuesday morning. I used 1 tsp of leaf, and gave it 3.5 minutes in boiling water. No additions. It’s another Della Terra blend that scented the whole kitchen beautifully – just like caramel and cream, somehow.

Hot, this one is a big tasting tea. Caramel is immediately detectable, followed by the almost cloying sweetness of melted marshmallow. The pumpkin emerges mid sip, although it’s not as “squashy” as I’d have liked, followed by a warming hit of spice. I think cinnamon, primarily. This is definitely up there with the sweetest teas I’ve tried, although the pumpkin and spice elements help to tone that down a little. As it cools, however, some of the flavour seems to fade away and the whole thing becomes a little washed out. Definitely one to drink immediately.

This makes for a pleasant cup, although it’s not particularly brilliant as a pumpkin tea. There are many I’ve tried that I prefer on that count. It’s pretty good as a caramel marshmallow tea, though, with the added squash/spice element helping to make it a bit unique. A sample I’ll have no trouble finishing up!

A sample from Janelle!

I have all but given up on DTT, but this one just sounded too good to be true, so I asked to try a bit.

Surprisingly, I guess, since I haven’t enjoyed a DTT in a long time (used to love them, but my tastes have evolved, clearly)… i did like this!

It was a half decent dessert tea. Definitely had the artificial flavouring thing going on but it was still a nice cup in the afternoon.

Caramel and spicy pumpkin and marshmallow are 3 flavours that I am down with. Mini marshmallows included!

Doubtful that I would purchase this, but I am glad I got to try it. It’s been awhile, but in my mind I would say it’s as good as Davidstea’s Pumpkin Chai…maybe better.

Thanks Janelle!

For me all Della Terra teas have a similar taste – must be the base they use. This one is no exception. I’m not getting any pumpkin at all just overly sweet caramel. All the bits of stuff in it are just adding to the ooozing sweetness – there are caramel bits, marshmallow bits, and sprinkles…. Happy that this one is gone….

Do agree with your comment Dexter.

Let the great sip-down begin! After the tea purge of this afternoon, there is a small stack of teas that I need to try – the stack of teas from our stash that I haven’t tried is significantly larger, but most of them I’m okay with letting go untasted. But this one just sounded like too yummy of a combination to pass up, and I adore another of Della Terra’s marshmallow teas, the Eight Candles.

Unfortunately, this did not live up to the name. The black tea base was pretty generic in and of itself. The marshmallows added a touch of creaminess without adding flavour, and left a bit of an oil slick on the top of the tea. As for the caramel and pumpkin, I suppose those were the flavours – if you squinted at them really hard from across a dark room. Very artificial and generic. I feel bad giving this a very low rating because it wasn’t gross or anything, it was just . . . nothing special.

I am woefully behind on tea reviews. I got an amazing surprise tea sample from Cameron that had 31 samples in it, all hand picked to my tastes. She really got it right. So as I have been trying the samples, I have been putting the bags on my desk so I could remember to write reviews on them. I didn’t take notes (bad me) so I will do my best!

This was the first sample that attracted me. The name is just oh so yummy! The tea didn’t quite live up to the name. I liked it, but I was hoping for more of a flavor punch than I got. Still a nice cup of spiced caramel tea. Thanks Cam!

I’ve had a hard time finding anything tea and pumpkin that work well for me. They always sound so good this time of the year though.

This sample came from Dexter. Now, I haven’t had the best experiences with Della Terra’s teas, but this flavor sounded too amazing to pass up. It has cute tiny marshmallows (the kind you find in hot cocoa mix) along with red sprinkles and pieces of brittle.

I dunno, this one’s just not doing it for me. It has a weird (extremely fake) caramel flavor and I don’t get pumpkin at all. The marshmallow is just sweetness and there’s a gross alcoholic tastes that lingers on my tongue and reminds me of cough syrup. Nope, not for me!

It took me a bit to detect the pumpkin. This kinda reminds me of pumpkin pie, more in the smell then the taste though. I like it a lot more then i thought i was going to. Surprisingly I do not taste the chocolate. Think they would have been better off adding more caramel. Still even without adding more its a good tea. Also good slightly cold.

Tea #2 from the Traveling Tea Box C Round 2
So this one smelled kinda similar to Eight Candles, though because my package of Eight Candles is still sealed (And I’m not opening it just to smell compaire. Lol), I can’t say 100%. I did compare it to the Love in a Cup I had and it’s similar, but not really since Love has chocolate and this has pumpkin. It gives it a spicy-esque, almost nutty kind of smell to it.
I’m pretty sure I should’ve used 2 tsp for my 8oz instead of the 1 1/2 since this was pretty weak/watery tasting. I didn’t get much of what I would associate with pumpkin either, but it might be because it was so light tasting. Again it was very similar to Love in a Cup (Which I’ve had recently so I remember better) and Eight Candles (which I’ve had not so recently so I don’t have an entirely firm grasp of the taste anymore). Lol.
Kind’ve caramelly and sweet, with a marshmallow-esque hint to it. Maybe a slight bit of spice if I hold it in my mouth and think about it for a moment.
I did find this much better with a bit of Truvia, while unsweetened it was kinda blah and even weaker.
I might get this in a try-me pack one day to taste again with a stronger measure to see if the pumpkin stands out, but for now, I’ll stick with the Eight Candles I have. It’s close enough for me right now.

Edit – Just a note to those who may use a plastic steeper (ingenuitea/DavidsTea Steeper/etc). This left some funky dregs in the bottom of my cup, not to mention gunky red stuff/a film on the sides. Probly from the sprinkles, which I’m pretty used to from other teas I’ve drank that had sprinkles. But I know that this stuff can be a pain in the butt to clean from the plastic steeper, so if you have a metal filter, maybe try that instead. /shrugs/ Just wanted to put that out there. Lol.

I find humor in how you described this as marshmallow-esque. My Hubby likes to tak “-esque” on the end of words when he describes things. Drives me crazy sometimes. I don’t know that I’ve heard anyone else do it. :)

Tea #6 from Considering a new TTB

I’m so excited to see this one in the box since I didn’t get a chance to order it this fall despite it being one of seasonal teas I really wanted to try. After all the green teas I’ve had this morning it was nice to have a little bit of a sugary kick to get me through the middle of the day. All the flavors I was hoping were there, the burned caramel, sugary marshmallow, and lots of spice. The black base was a little weak, but a longer steeping time would have helped, I had intended to steep this for 5 minutes like I do s’mores, but got impatient around the 3m mark. As much as I enjoyed this hot, I think I would enjoy it more as a tea latte, I think it really needs the creamy aspect the milk would add in order for it to be perfect.

Drinking this… Hoping I will taste something with this cold I still have… Not a chance :(

I guess instead of trying new teas, I will have to focus on sipping down some mediocre ones, because I cannot taste them anyway. Dammit.

Sil

always look on the bright side! sipdown meh teas! :)

Yep, that’s the plan!
