I really do not want to study right now. I want to clean. I don’t get it because I am almost done…just this one left. I think rereading the stuff from my second exam in this class, I have no idea what I’m reading…but I got a 92 on that exam so I am wondering if I just got lucky at this point.

This is pretty funky. It definitely tastes like cider, but there is just waaaaay too much going on with the other herbs for me. It tastes fine at first, but that sweet aftertaste of fennel is too much for me.

Or is it the anise? Or a combination, I can’t do it. It smells great though, but I don’t have the tastebuds to handle it.

Tea #7 from the ’Here’s Hoping’ teabox.

This tea is weird… I think I like it. I don’t taste apple at all, but there is a very sweet note at the beginning of the sip. Not sure if that’s the apple or the anise because there’s no distinct flavor – just sweet. It’s followed by the savory flavor of the fennel and then the heat of the chili bits and ginger. I don’t smell or taste cinnamon or cardamom which is strange since they’re both distinct (and often strong) flavors.

I like the mix of flavors. It’s different and definitely invigorating. Not something I would care to drink every day, but every once in awhile it’s nice to have a weird tea. :)

Thanks to momo for this one! As others have noted this is very heavily dominated by the anise and fennel and the cider/apple is really just in the background. It might as well be called “Apples & Licorice” But knowing that and accepting it going in, I really like it. I wanted something sweet tonight and this requires absolutely no sugar to achieve that. I steeped the Mi Lan Black to death today and had an apple ale (not cider) after dinner so this is a good choice.

I don’t know why the name of this was changed, but it seems like it fits. There is a ton of spicy heat in this one, with a bit of sweetness added with the peppercorns. The black tea isn’t the main focus here, as it is more of an herbal tea. I don’t find too much cinnamon either. I definitely wouldn’t call this a cinnamon cider, so the name change fits. It seems like Della Terra has different apple flavors for their teas. I don’t like the apple here more than the Apple Cinnamon Yogurt Rooibos. This one seems a bit more fragrancy than the sweet dessert type apple in the rooibos blend. I like this, but I wish they would use the other apple. (This same apple seems to be in their Caramel Apple blend.) This reminds me of Yogi’s Aztec Sweet Chili.

It is no fault of this tea that I really don’t like anise, but I don’t. I really don’t. I somehow glossed over that key word ‘aniseed’ in the description and ordered it anyway. Eww. I messed this one up though, it is no fault of the blend.
My friend used to make his own absinthe, high test stuff made with everclear. We all hated it, it tasted like poison, wormwood and anise. Which meant we would only drink it when we were out of options and too drunk to go somewhere to get anything better to drink. I never want to wake up sweating insecticide and twizzlers ever again.

That said, if you don’t have an absurdly strong aversion to any hint of licorice I am pretty sure this would be good.

Thanks to Dinosara again for swap!
This is another tea that made me wonder why della named it apple&herb. When I opened it, I mostly smelled spices, barely any apple. Even looking at the blending, it made me wonder if this is blending for chai. In fact when I brewed it it smelled and tasted like mild chai. I liked it, but just feel like name would be misleading for buyers?

I just want Della Terra to stop remaning things lol makes it confusing when trying to repurchase or log :)

Is there apple in this? The flavour is mostly spices, and fennel. Oh, so much fennel. And aniseed. Mainly I taste those two herbs. It’s interesting and different, and odd, and kinda good all at the same time.
