This had a subtle candy raspberry flavor in the first sip or two. Later, it faded and I really only tasted mild, sweet matcha. It was pleasant, but it didn’t have much character beside some other delicious matchas I’ve had recently. The flavoring needs to be much stronger, but it’s not a bad matcha.

2022 Sipdown 90/365!

R is for… Raspberry Matcha!

I skipped over Q in the alphabet – didn’t have any 52teas for that letter, and didn’t bother to pick up anything from other companies (instead, I did an extra day of P).

Had this raspberry matcha with milk this morning; tasted somewhat more like raspberry than last time, but still not overly.

I really enjoyed this. Actual raspberry taste, not generic berry. Grass and not seaweed. Good candy-ish stuff.

Day 18 of 24 Days of Matcha

Tried this one in the summer and totally love it. While a lot of matcha have an almost heavy taste when drinking I found this one light and fruity.

Another breakfast smoothie matcha! Since I have a full package of this in the cupboard, I just used up the whole advent sampler in a single smoothie, and made it “double size”. Probably close to a tablespoon of powder whisked in 16oz of plain oat milk.

I was surprised just how sweet this was now that I’ve finished off my (sweeter) coconut milk and opened up a carton of plain oat milk. I thought maybe I’d actually taste matcha for a change, but… nope! At least mixing these straight in milk (my typical smoothie preparation, before adding the other ingredients) really doesn’t let the matcha flavor through… I guess that is either a good or a bad thing, depending on your preferences. One of these days I’ll have to try at least half water to see what difference that makes…

I didn’t like this one as much as the strawberry, and now I’m kinda regretting this is the package I bought previously before trying the samplers. I expect raspberry to be a more tart/tangy berry, which is what I like (hello, bow down to your Hibiscus Queen!) but it is just so sweet it doesn’t really read as raspberry to me. Strawberry is a sweeter berry so I guess the sweetness and lack of tang element felt a little closer to home for me there. So mostly I get a really sweet red berry flavor, like a fruity candy, and I get that it should be raspberry, but it just feels too artificial to me without at least a little tanginess. If I were getting the matcha grassiness underneath to sort of even out the sweetness/lack of that element, maybe I’d like it a bit more. I guess I’ll have to experiment when I finally break open the larger pouch…

Used this to do a chocolate raspberry smoothie (other ingredients being chopped dates, chia seeds, almond butter, chocolate sauce, a few frozen raspberries, and ice). The smoothie is fine, though the chocolate does dominate a bit. I do get a bit of a raspberry flavor close to the end of the sip. It’s still tasty, but I’m not one to turn down chocolate for breakfast.

I was sucked in from one of DTs sales in end of 2020 (maybe black friday? can’t remember) and bought like 10 oz of this for pretty cheap. It will interesting to see if I like this one or not, but thanks for sharing your tasting note!

David’s Tea Matcha Advent Day 10.

Almost got this froth right!

I got a little bit of a fruity scent from the tea, but I couldn’t taste raspberry at all (or any berry, actually) with or without the milk. It was a pleasant enough sweet matcha, but I wouldn’t call it raspberry.

DavidsTEA Matcha Advent Calendar 2020 – Day 10

Finally caught up on tasting notes! This one, I will admit – third day in a row of a good matcha and I was excited haha. The smell was so nice and natural raspberry! Prepared in the usual way, 175 degree water, whisk, top up with hot water.

Smooth, raspberry flavor, not overwhelming, reminds me of the blueberry matcha just with raspberry instead. A nice froth too! Yum yum yum – I bet this would be good iced as well. Will happily finish this one off!

DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar – Day 10

Oooh I’m excited for this one! I think this is a good flavor to try without milk as well.

Prepared with 12 ounces of water for the single serve packet. 16 ounces is recommended, but I find it to be too watery prepared that way.

Honestly, this one is disappointing for me. The raspberry flavor is just not great, it tastes very artificial and reminds me more of a raspberry hard candy than the fresh fruit. Not that candylike flavors are bad, but here it tastes chalky (similar to the Berries & Cream flavor) and it just doesn’t go well with the slightly savory matcha. The flavor is lighter than some others, similar to yesterday’s vanilla matcha. I also get quite a bit of bitterness from the matcha itself, which only makes the artificial taste and the sugary sweetness worse.

I added milk to the second half of the cup and it’s definitely more drinkable this way. The raspberry flavor is still not great, but at least the sugar and bitterness are mitigated. This one is just not for me…

The jam for today is Blueberry-Blackcurrant Spread. Man, Bonne Maman is really knocking it out of the part with these flavors lately. As the name suggests, I would say the blueberry is the slightly stronger flavor here, with a rich syrupy sweetness and deep flavor. The blackcurrant adds a bit of tartness and dimension to the mix. I’m never sure how to describe blackcurrant, to me it tastes like a mix of blueberry and raspberry with a bit of passion fruit thrown in! Anyway, it’s delicious.

My sister and brother-in-law made a smoothie so they asked if I wanted some. I said yes, though I am used to my smoothies and not theirs. Thankfully they left me the last bit in the blender so I could add some matcha to their mix of mango, banana, icelandic yogurt and milk. The smoothie was thicker than I usually make them and had a different balance of fruits to other ingredients.

Despite adding a shitton of matcha, I am not getting much raspberry. I am getting a chalkiness though and I don’t know if I can blame the matcha for that or the combination of fruit and yogurt. Who knows. It’s fine, just not what I’m used to.

I’ve been enjoying trying all of the new DT matchas. I made this one as an iced latte with oat milk (as I’ve been doing with most of the new flavored matchas), and it was really tasty. It reminded me very much of a fruity cereal milk. I enjoyed it, but it’s another one that I don’t absolutely have to have on hand.
