Looking for a little star power? This sweet, spiced black tea is filled with pretty little gold star-shaped sprinkles. Take a sip and the slow suggestion of cinnamon will warm your body. Your toes will tingle and your mind will turn to fireworks, falling stars, late-night seduction. It’s basically magic.

Best served: Hot Tea / Tea Latte

The little glitter stars are super cute in this tea. I tend to like chai teas so I thought I’d try this one. It’s okay. Just okay. Nothing special. I could mostly taste cloves and cinnamon. The black tea faded into the background. Also, surprisingly for a tea with this many spices in it, it was pretty weak as far as I’m concerned. I won’t be repurchasing this one, but it was fine for me to finish my small tin.

This was less obnoxious than I usually find it.

The in-store sample I tried today was just not as clove-heavy as it usually seems to be, and that, for me, is a very good thing.

This is one of the first teas I actually truly enjoyed. At least the old recipe was…don’t think I’ve tried it lately

Evol Ving Ness

I usually find it quite bitter and full of clove, but that is in-store. I do have some leaf around here somewhere. Wonder what home steeping can do for me with this one.

Evol Ving Ness

oh, and I have only had it black and unsweetened, so maybe that’s it.

I find it nice as a latte, but I also love clove so YMMV.

I drank it black and unsweetened too though I enjoyed the clove

I wonder if they changed the recipe.

This was the tea for yesterday from David’s the 24 Days of Tea. Strangely, it did nothing for me. I’ve had this one before a couple of years ago and I remember that I really liked it. Did David’s “update” this tea? It wasn’t horrible. But it was oddly flavorless. Of course, I am sick, so maybe that’s why. I still have more leaf in the little jar so I may make it again at the end of December and use more leaf. Honestly, I remember loving this one a couple of years ago!

They changed the gold bits to vegan-friendly a year or two ago. I don’t know if the rest of the recipe was changed as well. I have never really been a great fan of this, but I likely have some of the original recipe here somewhere.

I did find this a bit flavorless too! :(

This tea was warm and tingly in a good way. It was an amazing way to start the morning and being able to enjoy the sip. It did start out a bit bitter but nothing a dash of cream couldn’t fix.

Day 5 of the DavidsTea 24 Days of Tea advent calendar – Glitter & Gold. I missed Day Four. I mean, I was extant and that day occurred and I even pulled the little drawer out to check what the day’s tea was and put it back thinking I’d brew it up a bit later, but then fell asleep and didn’t. I’ll go back and do that one, though. For today I’m staying on track numerically and jumping feet first into a mug of Day Five’s tea.

It looked and smelled promising: black tea with a citrus-spice vibe. Cute little candy stars. It looked pretty in the infuser as I waited for the timer. I thought I was in for a probably pleasant-ish cup. But I was wrong. I was hoping for a lighter, more gold-toned brew, but it was very dark, almost black. The scent and flavour profiles do not match up. It smelled nice, both light on the citrus note and grounded with the spiciness, not over-powering like some DavidsTea offerings. But the flavour just fell flat. It was oddly weak. I’m getting not much in the way of discernible notes of clove or lemon peel. It just tastes like black tea that has been vaguely adulterated in a too-tepid manner to have much taste at all. The add-ins are enough to keep it from being a nice black tea, but not enough to make it anything but an sweet-ish brew of utter ‘meh’-ness.

I am not even halfway through the mug as I write this and I doubt I’ll bother finishing it. The Day Four tea I skipped was a jasmine green tea that might have been a more enjoyable tea experience. Kind of wishing I had skipped this one instead.

I may have either over steeped or used water that was too hot, but this was awful. That surprised me because I’ve never had a bad DAVIDsTEA, so I’m assuming it was my error. I received this in the 2017 tea advent calendar so I’m hoping I have another chance to try this again.

I was surprised to find this one was bad, too. Maybe a bad batch of this tea went into the calendars? From the other reviews and descriptions I felt I ought to have loved this one. The flavours are right up my alley, but I hated it.

Currently drinking this one with a sandwich so hopefully that doesn’t knock the flavors off much. This is a cute blend with the gold stars. Though let’s be honest, with what they are made out of I could have done without them. The dry leaf has a nice spicy scent to it with a few chocolate hints. This would make a really good potpourri. The flavor is nice. Can definitely taste the cloves but I’m also enjoying the nutty/chocolate flavors. However, I won’t rate it higher then what I did for their use of artificial flavor and the stars.

The cinnamon and spice is nice and not too aggressive, but it does kind of overpower the black tea flavor.

It’s fine, but very mild for my taste. Its possible I didn’t steep it long enough so I’ll come back to this at a later date.
