Cream of the crop.

It’s no secret raspberry cream pie is the star of every dessert party. This springtime treat has a habit of flaunting its flaky crust, creamy filling and fresh raspberry topping. And we fall for it every time. Beautiful on the outside and satisfyingly sweet on the inside, this decadent rooibos blend is no different. With white chocolate, raspberries, rose petals and pink sugar sparkles, there’s simply no resisting it. And with next to no calories, this is one indulgence you can feel good about.

Ingredients: Green rooibos, cane sugar, white chocolate chips (sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, butter oil, soy lecithin, vanilla extract), pink sugar mix (sugar, carnauba wax, glycerine, beet juice, purple carrot, saffron, mica based pearlescent pigment (colour)), blackberries, raspberries, gomphrena petals, hibiscus, strawberry leaves, natural and artificial raspberry, blackberry and vanilla cream flavouring.

Contains milk and soy.

Smells wonderfully like raspberries. However I didn’t like it brewed hot. Tastes too artificial for me to enjoy. Man I wish it tasted like it smells. Bummer. I tried it iced but it’s even worse than hot for me so I gave it to my boyfriend and he gladly finished it lol It’s strange, he seems to like the teas I do not like, and he doesn’t like and the teas that I like. So tea usually never gets wasted at this house lol

*Update: I have recently discovered how amazing tea lattes are. Teas that I was not fond of before, I have learned to love in latte form. Well, most of them anyways. Some of them still do not pleasure my taste buds. The only thing that stopped me from trying them before is that I did not have a frother. I happened to be lucky and found a Starbucks milk frother at a second hand store for $4! I decided to take a chance on it and I am so glad I did. It works awesome! This tea is another favorite now as a latte. Yum!

Sipdown! Raspberry Cream Pie was probably the one tea I have been most excited about trying from the new spring collection. It definitely smells and tastes like a raspberry cream pie! There is an oily film on top after brewing but this does contain white chocolate chips. The tea alone is pretty sweet thanks to the addition of sugar. I bet this would be lovely with a splash of almond milk.

Seriously— what are these people at DT thinking?

I picked up a very small bit to try and thought that with milk, there might be hope for it. Still very artificial and killer sweet. Boo! It’s kind of the tea version of cream soda. Fine, if you like that sort of thing.

It’s just not been a good tea day so far.

I just tried it this morning. Holy sweet tea, Batman. I couldn’t finish my cuppa, and I live for sweetened teas. It sounded so promising because I love raspberry teas, but it’s just too artificial and, dare I say, too sweet (shock horror!).

This one is fairly tasty. It is already sweet and I added sugar because I like rooibos with sugar in general. This one does taste good overall. It has a fairly strong taste from the raspberry and a noticeable taste from the white chocolate. Bought this and a few others from Davids Tea today. Got an email yesterday saying today was my last day to redeem my free tea from last quarter so I had to make it to Roosevelt Field Mall to go there. This one might just be better cold brewed into an iced tea.

Brewed this one time in a Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 5 min.

This tea reminded me of a raspberry creamsicle. I love it. It became an instant favourite with me. Will likely keep this on my shelf.

Last tasting note for the day – finally finished clearing out my queue. Sometimes I feel like I drink too much tea, haha. Anyway; this is another retiring tea – but again, only in the US.

That’s a relief for me, I enjoy this blend a lot – and it’s also one of the only fruity rooibos blends we’re currently carrying, although it’s still very on the decadent/dessert side. This cup was a good example of that; despite a sweet raspberry note present throughout the main focus point was the thick creamy notes of white chocolate.

Sometimes this is too sweet for me, but when I’m craving a sugary tea I enjoy having this as an option – especially as a latte.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

New teas already? I stopped in at a DAVIDsTEA to redeem my free 100g (chose Ginger Pear and more Ceremonial matcha) and noticed these new ones, although the pistachio one was nowhere in sight and didn’t know about it until I got back.

The dry leaf is swarming with white chocolate chips and you can also see the additional sugar swimming around in there. Ugh. But it’s a green rooibos, but that is something. Of course, steeped, the water is ultra murky from the white chocolate. I will give them credit, though, that this indeed smells like a raspberry dessert, but I’d say it smells more like ice cream than pie.

First sip without any additions and unsurprisingly, it’s hella sweet, plus that raspberry is on the artificial side. If I were only allowed to drink it this way, it would automatically get like a 40 rating or something. With homo milk (perhaps a bit much, whoops), the sugar has been balanced out a little bit. This does taste like melted white chocolate raspberry ice cream, what with the nearly 1/4 cup of milk I accidentally added to it. If a raspberry Campino candy existed, it would smell like the hot milky raspberry concoction in my mug.

The remaining 8g will be cold brewed for tomorrow. I have a feeling it’s going to be dangerously sugary, but oh well. Now to have the remaining Nordic mug of this while I watch Freaks and Geeks (why was this show cancelled?! Rhetorical question, of course) and contemplate whether I should walk over to Safeway to redeem my stamps for my free pair of Spiegelau red win glasses (yay!) or maybe even try out the apartment complex’s gym which finally reopened today after being closed since September (also yay!) or maybe both despite already having 17k steps. Too many life choices.

It sounds like milk and hot is the way to go with this one.

Fjellrev

Yeah, either that or cold brewed. But you’re right in another comment, they still sabotaged this by adding so much sweetener. Ugh!

finished this off tonight and man, too sweet. Dropping the rating a little more because there is just too much sweet going on here for this to be an enjoyable cup. Maybe latte style would work but it’s disappointing to see so much sugar in this.

Final Count: 111

VariaTEA

I have a friend who mostly just drinks DAVIDs and she actually made a point to message me about how amazing this is. For her, the sweetness seemed to be a bonus so it should be interesting to see how I feel about it when I eventually get around to trying it.

Gooseberry Spoon

I do hate when they add their own sugar. L ike I have the time and equipment to brew loose leaf but am unable to sweeten my own drink…? It probably doesn’t hurt that sugar is much heavier than tea (less than 8 oz per cup) and much cheaper (about 1 cent per oz).

Sil

@variaTEA – maybe it’s because i haven’t had any sugar in 2 weeks? but man it was over the top.

VariaTEA

Haha that could be it. Though, knowing DAVIDs, it is probably over sweetened.

Sil

davids responded on facebook that it’s meant to be over the top. ugh

Kristal

Hm, at least they admitted it was :/. Still though, I was going to purchase this tea and now knowing that it’s over sweetened they lost me.

Evol Ving Ness

I broke down yesterday and bought a wee bit to try the next time I bring some milk home and need something milky and sweet.
