Spice up your fall

Is there anything more autumnal than a pumpkin? If there is, we don’t wanna hear about it. Not when pumpkin can taste this good. This sweet and comforting, all-natural blend combines pumpkin, honeybush, cinnamon, cocoa and real maple crystals. The result? A warming taste of fall we just can’t get enough of. And since it’s caffeine-free, you can enjoy it all day and all night. Now that’s pumpkin to get excited about.

One of my coworkers gave me a sample of this one – mmmm, it actually kinda tastes like pie! And I’m toally okay with that! One of the most ‘pumpkiny’ teas I think I’ve had.

I got a taste of this blend as a free sample today, so I’ll have to brew a full cup and mull it over for more detail. This flavor is smooth and sweet without being cloying (for example, I think the pumpkin chai was a bit too heavy on the caramel). This blend has a focus on cocoa, and paired with the honeybush it has an almost cookie-like aspect. The honeybush brews up decently strong with a medium body. I tentatively say this is the most “pumpkin” of the pumpkin blends this season, but even so it is a very gentle and light flavor note in this tea. I noticed that maple sugar is an ingredient, which was a bit surprising since the blend was not very forward in maple. I be the smooth mouthfeel comes from the presence of maple and almond flavoring. Overall this tea is very drinkable, but since it is pre-sweetened it might serve best as a late or a dessert.

I got this cup for free as part of my Frequent Steeper birthday redemption!

This definitely tastes of maple, pumpkin, and spices. And I think I taste the cream as well. Tasty, but I’m not a huge pumpkin spice person – just wanted to try this because it smelled so sweet and full of maple. However, there’s a sour aftertaste to this tea that I don’t like.

Anyway, I’m glad I got a chance to try this, even if only to confirm this is just a happy little one-off for me.

OMGsrsly

Oh. The sour note could be the honeybush. It’s something I’ve noticed if it’s not an excellent quality one. Or Apple pieces if there’s Apple in it.

Hmm, interesting. I don’t drink a lot of honeybush, so that’s good to know.

As soon as I smelt this in store, I got a full tin. I’d sworn I’d stop doing that, but they were on their last bag, and… pumpkin.

I made this with two perfect spoons to a little over half of 16oz then topped it off with frothed almond milk and a dash of brown sugar. To me, this tastes the most like pumpkin pie out of any pumpkin tea I’ve ever had. Especially the aftertaste, it’s very much like I just finished having a slice of pie rather than a cup of tea. Lots of nutmeg. Yummy! I’m glad I got a tin.

As a black tea fan, I probably prefer DT’s pumpkin chai, but this is especially super for those looking for a caffeine-free option!

Oooo, brown sugar! Never thought of that. Will have to try!

And I agree with your last sentence: I cannot drink black tea and always prefer my tea lattes to be caffeine free so this pumpkin tea is perfect for me!

Whoa. Holy nutmeg! This blend is a full-on assault of spice. To my tastebuds all the typical autumn baking spices are present and accounted for, so I’m not sure why it’s called Spiced Pumpkin. The pumpkin flavor is so faint that it’s almost an afterthought. Just name it Pumpkin Pie Spice and be done with it. It’s sweet but the sweetness doesn’t read as maple to my palate. I bought 4 ounces and I’ve sipped through about 1 ounce. I’ve had it on its own (hot and cold) and added into other pumpkin teas (hot and cold). This is one to add to the box of unloved teas to re-home.

Also, what’s this thing with calling anyone who likes pumpkin and pumpkin spice flavored things basic and/or basic white girl? I must be behind the times.

I’ll start by saying that, due to a series of unfortunate events, this ended up steeping for about an hour (can you hear me cringing from there?). It’s basically syrup, but at least it’s herbal so it didn’t get bitter.

That being said, I do rather enjoy this one. I’m getting apple more than pumpkin, but definitely cooked apple. This is complemented by heavy cinnamon and cream notes with a hint of caramel/maple. It’s got a real apple pie feel to it. The aftertaste is a little more on the pumpkin pie note. I suspect if I hadn’t let it sit so long that’s how it should taste. Either way I enjoyed this one enough to give it another chance (for now I’ll leave it unrated). Have also heard great things about this one as a latte, so maybe I’ll pick up a bag.

I wanted to try ALL of the fall teas, especially the pumpkins so I had to buy it. I’m not overly jumping backwards for this tea. It’s good, but I think the punpkin chai is better

This is great, but would be perfect only without the honeybush. I get a bit of a scratchy throat when drinking it, likely for that very reason.

Otherwise, it is pretty much the perfect pumpkin spice tea, IMO. Nutmeg, cloves(?), pumpkin, whipped cream… love the aroma, love the flavour. Despite the honeybush, I’ll probably grab 50g. I love love love nutmeg in teas, and also pumpkin spice.

Holy crap, this smells amazing. Really spicy, particularly heavy on the nutmeg. I swear I even get a hint of allspice along with the cinnamon. This is what I always want a pumpkin spice latte to smell like.

The scent of the steeped tea is a gentler version of the dry leaf, but not too toned down at all. I get this glorious waft of pumpkin pie spices mixed in with pumpkin squash and whipped cream. And it delivers on the flavour, as well. This really is the closest tea I’ve tried to actual pumpkin pie, at least the way my great grandmother made it. Although I still follow her recipe almost to a T(ea, har har), this is so hers because she used to use actual whipping cream for the whipped cream topping and in the filling itself, whereas I tend to lean towards whole milk in the filling and Cool Whip as a topping. This has that rich whipped cream aspect.

I haven’t made pumpkin pie in three years so I better make it this year now! Wait, isn’t tea supposed to help deter you from eating dessert? I’m going in the opposite direction. I want more of this tea and actual pumpkin pie.

Kittenna

Dang, I need to get in there and get some of this. It sounds really good.

Kristal

Love, Love, Love this tea as a latte. Ordered 250 grams of it and when it goes on web special I will do the same thing again

CelticBrew

Still have to pick this up. Sounds so good!
