From DAVIDsTEA

What’s our most popular tea request? Something that will help you relax or get more sleep. And thanks to a shot of uber-calming valerian root, this sweet and minty caffeine-free blend is pretty much guaranteed to knock you out. The best part? It tastes amazing, too. With soothing hints of apple, peppermint, lemon myrtle and apricot, it’s delicately fruity, lightly creamy and utterly refreshing. Just one cup is all it takes to…zzzzzzz……

I got this at DT a while ago and am just getting around to trying it now. It’s good to have a few herbal nighttime choices, especially on an evening like today where it’s pouring down rain. We need the rain and I’m not really complaining, just being cozy. :)

Valerian root is a very distinctive (bad) smelling herb, kind of like stinky feet. I have to wonder if DT was just looking for ways to disguise the valerian. This is an interesting mix of mint and other herbs with a bit of apple flavor.

Something about the aroma of this reminds me of Robitussin, oddly enough. I can’t say too much about the flavor, it’s relatively benign and reminds me a bit of chamomile. A bit apple-y, a bit minty, a bit herbal-y, and some vanilla that seems artificial to me. I would probably prefer a cup of plain chamomile over this, but that’s just me. I guess I’ll report back later on how well it helped me to sleep :)

I had this tonight as well – though i was worried it might actually make me sleepy as that seems to be it’s selling feature. Of course, it didn’t. That being said though, this was a tasty cup and nice to have as a herbal option for me today to help fight the sick!

Having sampled this the other day I thought I would get a small amount to have at home.

For the first sipdown I steeped this for 3 minutes at just under boiling water.

While I can’t actually make out any of the fruit contained in this tisane I certainly picked up on the mint. Surprisingly it isn’t overwhelming (perhaps this is due largely in part to the slight understeeping?). It makes its presence known, but not obnoxiously so. I find it quite soothing and comforting. As with a few other teas I’ve had from DT there doesn’t appear to be any aftertaste.

I’m really enjoying this tea. To me, this is the kind of tea you have on a cool autumn night (and we are certainly feeling it here in the GTA this evening!). You’re kicking back, winding down. Perhaps you’re doing a little nighttime reading (or in my case, studying), listening to music (smooth jazz for me).

With the change of season happening tomorrow I can definitely see me having a good amount on hand. This is a great tea to have during this time of the year.

An added bonus – I read up online that not only does valerian root help to promote sleep but it can also help in managing stress and migraines. Looks like this will be my review/study tea as I make my way through my course. :)

yes! finally a lovely nighttime tea without chamomile (i’m allergic)!
most nights i have such a hard time sleeping, and valerian root really works on me, so yes, i am in love! this tea is now a staple. plus lemon balm is super calming as well, so all in all, a beautiful blend. THANK YOU, DAVIDs!

smells quite minty at first with a hint of that sweet fruit and vanilla, but once steeped, the mint really mellows out. very subtly sweet, with a hint of that minty goodness and little bit of lemon peeking through. very well balanced and calming.

I got a sample of this when I stopped by in-between classes today. I’ve been looking forward to trying this one and will say that it was very good. I really liked the combination of the fruity notes from the mango with the refreshing and hydrating notes coming from the valerian and peppermint. I also love how the vanilla comes through and makes the tea very smooth and unifies the two different flavour profiles together. I would recommend this and think that it would be nice iced as well.

Dry Leaf Nose: Strong aroma of fruits, most notably the sweet apple and apple mint. The citrus is present in the background.

Liquor: An inviting and appealing green-gold liquor

Flavour: A fruity and sweet blend with the prominence of apple mint and apple. The citrus notes are more noticeable in flavour, and there is a subtle apricot flavour as well.
