From DAVIDsTEA

Keep calm and berry on

They’re sweet. They’re juicy. And they’re good for you. Really, there’s no sweet treat more wholesome than a berry. Well, unless you mix it with super-healthy pu’erh tea, that is. And this deliciously fruity tea just so happens to have both. With earthy pu’erh tea, sweet strawberries, blackberry leaves and strawberry leaves, it brings all the goodness of the berry patch right to your cup. It’s great hot, iced, or with cream, sugar and a cookie or three.

Ingredients: Organic: pu’erh tea, blackberry leaves, strawberries, strawberry leaves, hibiscus. With natural flavouring*.

Well I tried the longer steeping time but the flavour that creeps in isn’t fruit or berries – it’s quite distinctly hibiscus. Ick.

I may have to lower this tea’s score because – while on the rare occasion hibiscus can work for me in a cold tea – I invariably hate the taste of it when it’s hot. This is no exception.

Honestly, where are the berries? Okay maybe I taste them a little bit. The berry flavor is really slight, practically unnoticeable and it’s only in the aftertaste. Why would they give the tea this name if it can’t live up to it? It basically has no flavour at all, I’m pretty disappointed.

LOVE IT COMPLETELY.
The perfect balance of berry; it’s not overbearing yet has the perfect amount of sweetness. Good both hot and cold, two completely different experiences!

Huh. This was an odd one for me. Not in a bad way. I was recommended this tea for an iced tea, but I actually prefer it warm.

Iced, this tea starts with a strong hit of hibiscus (sorry for all you hibi haters), then fruit, then the pu’erh. I found it the opposite when I didn’t chill it. Warm, you initially get a strong hit of pu’erh (very earthy) and then it finishes with a the fruit, with a slight hint of hibiscus (I found once you ice it, the hibiscus kind of explodes). This will be a fantastic tea to start getting into spring with since it’s fruity but not bad as a hot tea.
