From DAVIDsTEA

Keep calm and berry on

They’re sweet. They’re juicy. And they’re good for you. Really, there’s no sweet treat more wholesome than a berry. Well, unless you mix it with super-healthy pu’erh tea, that is. And this deliciously fruity tea just so happens to have both. With earthy pu’erh tea, sweet strawberries, blackberry leaves and strawberry leaves, it brings all the goodness of the berry patch right to your cup. It’s great hot, iced, or with cream, sugar and a cookie or three.

Ingredients: Organic: pu’erh tea, blackberry leaves, strawberries, strawberry leaves, hibiscus. With natural flavouring*.

this is amazing. it’s got a rich full mouth full, a lucious berry sweetness and just the right amount of tartness.

Kittenna

How did you manage to get this one before it was released??

Teavangelical

I’ve got some inside connections… and a key to the store! Nah, it has been hanging out in the stock room for 5 days or so and we get to try things a little bit earlier than most :) I made a cup the minute I got in on Sunday morning.

Kittenna

Ahaha, I see in your bio it even says that you work for DT! My bad! :P Lucky you – I’m excited to try this one… soon…

What else is coming? What else is coming? And I had promised not to buy so much tea this year….sigh

apparently my tastes have changed… i used to love this blend and now i have to drop my score on a very large scale. apparently my steady diet of verdant tea and butiki has turned me into a snob.

EDIT: I USED to really like this one. Then I made a pitcher of it iced.. it really bothered my stomach… now even the smell of it turns my stomach….. sad.
I really liked this one. I thought it smelled just like 5 berry burst gum ….. the earthiness of the puh’erh and comes across in this and the berry compliments it without overpowering.. I love it!

I purchased a small amount of this as part of the pu’erh collection when it was 40% off at my local Davids. It seems that many tasters liked this one but all I was able to taste was an overwhelming metallic fake berry flavor. I had to dump it out. I’m not sure if I made this wrong or what but, for me this was not a winner.

lol i thought it was okay when it came out.. it tasted like berry gum to me.. but my stomach killed after.. i didnt know if it was the tea or not so i tried it again like a month later.. and same thing.. horrible stomach pains…

I have been heavily broke so it’s been months since a DT run…and it’s killing me! Thankfully I have such a huge amount that I’m never broke in a having tea sort of way. My birthday is soon so hopefully my boyfriend will be tea generous:-)

ON TO THE TEA.

In the pouch this tea smells earthy but berry good.Strawberry notes make my mouth water. The blackberry is lovely dark and more of a sullen sweetness.Smells like what I imagine a HEALTHY fruit roll-up would smell like.

First taste: Berries and sweet with a sourness that is like the sourness of new fruit. Pleasant and I can see beautiful possibilities involving ice cubes and porches with huge umbrellas breaking up the sunshine while my legs dangle over the edge getting sun kissed .

Reminds me of ; Summer, being a child, getting sun-kissed and huge umbrellas with striped patterns on a lovely deck overlooking the great BC expanse.

Perfect for: A real damn good icing. Those days when you want something sweet but not too sweet. If you want a sweetie with a tarty side!

Final verdict : A nice surprise. It is not amazing or a huge discovery but it feels like the staple berry tea you will be giving your guests in the summer iced and in the cold times a nice reliable tea that is the quintessential berry tea everyone should have in their cupboards. So versatile and simple it is the reliable shoulder in the cupboard when you need nothing fancy but nothing boring either.

Dry Sniff: Mmmmmm berries! It smells sweet and fresh, with the strongest scent being strawberries
After Brewing: It smells WONDERFUL. Honestly. It’s earthy, sweet and berry-ful but more blackberries than strawberries now. It’s a reddish brown colour
Taste: pretty much how it smells. Earthy with blackberries. Very flavourful, and delicious when warm.

So this is only the second-ever pu er that I have ever tried out. I bought it the week of Valentines, but didn`t try it till last weekend. It was date night and this was my hubby`s choice of tea to drink, and I was glad to try a new tea, I have so many still to try out! I enjoyed it, it was nice and earthy, with the berry tones. I would try this one again:)

So 2013. It’s been like forever since I’ve written one of these but with writers block and adjusting to the return to studies. Well…you can guess where I’ve been. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and are enjoying the warmth that this year has been affording us so far. If this tea is any indication of what is to come it is sure to be a great year.

It is truly divine both in flavor and fragrance. For those who love berries it is a wonderful option. The fruit is well accented by the Pu-erh tea and just gives a uplifting quality at the start of the day. Of the two new Pu-erh teas I’d have to say this one is my favorite. Cheers!

Berry Amazing!

So naturally when DAVIDsTEA says they have new teas coming out I generally make sure I get in within a day or two to smell and/or purchase some. I was given an early hint that there was two incoming pu’erh’s, yep not one but two! Then the info was released on their web page and I got an idea of what I was in for.

Berry Good and Aloha Pu’erh, funny enough I immediately figured I would like Aloha Pu’erh and was skeptical on Berry Good as I already have a bunch of strawberry teas. So I ventured into the store and immediately put the two to the smell test, first up was Berry Good. Immediately I was reminded of berry jello powder, wow this smells incredible I though, very noticeable blackberry presence. Then I smelled the Aloha Pu’erh, and I had one of those, what the eff is this moments. The Pu’erh used in that blend made it smell like fish to me, it failed the smell test horribly so subsequently it wont be in my cupboard. Now I figured DT released two teas this time because they knew some people wouldnt like the Pu’erh base in one, well at least that is what I am telling myself! Was quite a shame because the ingredients in Aloha Pu’erh make it sound wonderful.

Back to the Berry Goodness, the main reason I should be typing this! It brews up into a dark tea, that retains the berry aroma. Again still the Blackberry is the most prevalent aroma. The taste of blackberry is strong with this one and I freaking love it! I enjoy berry tea’s very much, but have been having a hard time finding a variety of good ones, for the most part they are heavily strawberry based.

So far I picked this tea up at 5pm PST yesterday night it is going on 11am PST as I type this and I have had 5 delicious cups. I bought 100g like I normally would, its a very light tea so it fills the tin completely, and I am already thinking about grabbing another tin for backup since I know I am going to plow through this fast.
