From DAVIDsTEA

Get rich quick

Have you heard tales of the wealthy Brazilian eccentric? According to local stories, he was completely obsessed with Brazil nuts, the source of his fortune. He insisted on having them in every meal – even his afternoon tea! Was it needless decadence, or a stroke of genius? You’ll have to taste it yourself to decide. This fabulously opulent blend combines black tea with whole Brazil nuts, raisins and coconut. Trust us – it tastes like a million bucks.

Ingredients: Black tea, Brazil nuts, golden raisins, coconut, natural and artificial flavouring*.

Sip down day #2/tea #1

The dry notes smell nutty and slightly sweet. Once steeped it smells just like Brazil nuts, I feel like I should be reaching over and popping one of Tue deli opus, crunchy nuts into my mouth.
The tea tastes mainly like a black tea. The Brazil nut flavour lingers at the end of The the sip.
Unfortunately this tea is nothing to write home about. I’ll finish the cup because I need Tue caffeine this morning. I finally fell asleep around 5am and was up at 7:15am to get my girls ready for school. And now I have to work till 8 tonight. Tea is the only thing that will keep me sane.

Saturday Sipdown!

This is another one I got in an old swap, which I think might contribute to its taste (it’s been sitting in with a bunch of other swap baggies).

I can’t pick out a ton of individual flavors, but overall it’s a decent cup. A bit overly sweet, leaving a strong after taste. Can’t taste too much TEA flavors.

Decent. No rating because I probably didn’t take as good of care of the sample as I could have, which could have contributed to the taste.

Dry Leaf Nose: Roasted Brazil nuts and raisins with a black tea and coconut background.

Liquor: Rich brown clear liquor, aroma of roasted nuts without the saltiness – Brazil nuts paramount.

Flavour: Very rich in flavour with the Brazil nut and black tea flavours being supported by the golden raisins which sweeten the whole. The coconut is apparent but takes a subtle role supporting the nut flavour.

Tried a cup of this in NYC Bleeker Street location. It smelled liked hazelnut liquor (Frangelica). It was mixed with agave and it was a nice tea to try.

8/13/12 – Funny that I bought a 1 oz but haven’t used it in two months. It sits on the shelf and once and awhile I just open it up and sniff.

8/14/12 – Brought 1oz to work, brewing it now, tasted good! Added 1 sugar packet.

9/6/12 – I used up the package! That’s it. This was my first David’s Tea I bought at the Bleeker Street location. I have picked out the nuts that are in the tea after steeping and ate them. Yum.

This one’s interesting. I kept getting a nagging voice in my head telling me I was drinking Secret Weapon, based on the scent. It’s indeed similarly nutty, obviously, but quite sweet. I like it. I’m not sure how I feel about the massive Brazil nuts, though I acknowledge that’s kind of the tea’s whole gimmick. But, how much flavour do whole nuts actually impart? All I know is nuts are heavy! Anyway. Aside from that, and the slight bitterness that came out even at 3 minutes at 200 degrees, I enjoyed it.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one when I read the description, but it was definitely worth ordering. I don’t know what it reminds me of, but the taste is familiar (in a good way).

Cloudy and muggy day. Would love to feel like a million bucks so I choose this smoky, decadent and very nutty tea to start the day off right.

This tea smells lightly of marzipan and coconut with a rich downy blanket of teeth clenching nuttiness and smokiness. Like Fantasy Island without the sexiness or sweetness. This tea is all about bars of gold, dollar bills and bling …serious bling. Definitely fit for royalty. Opulent and deep like the dank back end of a safety box filled with treasure. Sounds bad but actually it smells wonderful ( I imagine)

As for taste..it is wonderfully sharp and nutty, warming and soothing with a kiss of coconut that lingers on the tongue and a very slight tart sweetness from the raisins. Golden smooth and deeply rich with an absolutely gorgeous nuttiness. It tastes like the perfect fall/winter coat.

Perfect for: cold nights,a need for opulence, lovers of smoky and nutty teas.

Final Verdict: this tea is Fantasy Island’s romantic partner they both share these deep smoky elements but where Fantasy Island is sweet and sexy Brazillionaire is deep and rich like a baritone. They are a pair that I believe belong together. Husband and wife tea! I prefer Fantasy Island but I love the husband too. This tea is a lovely win.

I typically like nutty teas (was quite the fan of Forever Nuts at a point), but I find this to be a bit too much for me. To be fair, I am the person who picks around the Brazil nuts in the nut mix and goes straight for the cashews, so it’s no surprise I’m not a big fan of this tea. I find the Brazil nut flavour is too strong, and after having it a few times, that it tasty almost…musty.
Overall, not the worst experience, but not a tea I’d drink again.

I pick out the cashews also, they really are the tastiest :)

ahh, delicious!
Davids really does know how to do a warm, toasty, nutty tea!
i agree with some of the other posts; similar to toasted walnut and secret weapon, but when you’re doing it right, i say keep doing it! the coconut comes out as a nice finish at the end as well. and i don’t really taste the raisins, but that’s not a bad thing ;)
i bought ‘The Gentleman’s Collection’ for my dad for his birthday, and he really liked toasted walnut, which was in the “Tea Aficionado” collection, so i think he will be pleased!
hoorah!
oh, the only downside, i made sure to have a nice 1 1/2 tsp. of tea AND one big whole brazil nut, but then that only left enough for one more cup from my 10g sample. yes, i know, i wasn’t expecting to get a ton out of it, but those nuts are pretty heavy and bulky! it is on the low end of their price range though, so i guess that makes up for it :)

I am loving the recommondations I am getting from my DT store! This one was billed as ‘the Forever Nuts of black teas’, and… mmmm. I loved the nutty flavour from this. Absolutely divine with a bit of milk. Definitely going to be picking up a tin of this at some later date.
