From DAVIDsTEA

Blended by angels, this is one enchanting tea. It’s a subtly sweet rooibos blend of orange peel, orange blossoms and currants, all kissed with vanilla bean creaminess. Grown among the clouds in heaven and harvested by cherubs, it tastes like a golden ray of sunshine. One sip and you’ll find yourself running along a beach at sunset, surrounded by turtle doves. Don’t believe us? Steep a cup for yourself and see where your imagination takes you.

Ingredients: Rooibos, currants, orange peel, orange blossoms, vanilla pieces, marigold blossoms, safflower petals, natural flavouring.

Price per 50g: $6.50

This tisane has a flavour which is exactly what I would imagine an orange blossom to taste like. Light and sweet orange flavour with a hint of an artificial edge to it. The vanilla comes out and is what give it the sweetness. The rooibos flavour is present and balances out the orange flavour nicely- it is a welcoming taste in the mix, giving a slight contrast. I am not really able to taste the currants in this mix; they may be slightly present near the end of the sip.

As it cools, more of the complexity of the flavour is able to come out. The orange has a fuller taste.

I had this to go from the store today. I was pleased to find that it wasn’t super-rooibosy but, yeah. I see what others mean with the orange candy flavour. It was a little much for me, though not unpleasant. It smells good, but I kept catching whiffs of it sitting to one side of my desk at the office and wondering what the smell was. I kept thinking someone had just cleaned something before realizing it was the tea! Odd.

So I’m on a caffeine “cleanse” (I miss my oolongs… 2 weeks to go) and I picked this up the other day. Dry, it smells like cough syrup to me but then again, I think that about most rooibos teas so I bought 50g to try. I tried it both hot and cold.

Hot: It was pretty good. Very smooth, mellow flavors and it’s definitely relaxing. I drank some before bed and it had me nodding off. It tastes a little cough syrupy when it’s hot, but it’s not a horrible taste somehow!

Cold: YUM. this tasted like a creamy, orangey bubblegum! Weird I know but somehow it works and it’s sooo delicious when cold with a little honey. Tastes like happiness in a cup :)

Next, I’ll try it as a latte. Yay for new tea discoveries.

Faith

Yow, good luck with the cleanse! It can be rough…

Its been two weeks! I’m sleeping much better and I don’t really miss it much except for my oolong teas :( The first week was so painful I couldn’t even keep my eyes open. Doesn’t help that I work at a coffee shop LOL

How long are you doing this for? Is it something you decided to do for yourself or is it some kind of program you’re following?

I’m asking because I had a rooibos blend last night (very unusual for me) and no real tea, and today at work at around noon-ish or so I had a bit of a sleepy crisis. Actually had to go and buy me some sort of sugary sweet so as not to fall asleep on the keyboard. I wonder if these two things might be connected, and that if I can’t get through even half a work day, even though I’m drinking tea at work, then maybe I ought to have a closer look at my caffeine intake.

dee

I decided to do it for a month! I’m doing it for myself… like you I started to realize the effects that caffeine was having on me (as in, couldn’t function without haha). I went completely cold turkey and I’ll admit the first week, I just wanted to quit and I felt like a drug addict sniffing coffee beans and stuff to tide myself over.

It used to be REALLY hard for me to fall asleep, stay asleep and feel rested in the mornings. Truth be told, I’m on my secondish week and only now is my sleep schedule starting to readjust and I’m finally feeling rested in the mornings.

I wish I could cut caffeine out altogether but for me it’s not possible because my favorite teas contain caffeine but this has definitely helped me reevaluate what I’m putting into my body. I’ll definitely try and control my intake to maybe just in the morning or something because this whole experience has really opened my eyes to my dependence on caffeine (as cheesy as that sounds :P) Hope I helped!

Interesting. Maybe I’ll attempt something similar for myself. Especially now that I know there’s at least one rooibos that I don’t dislike. It would be nice to be able to visit my parents for a weekend and not have a low-level headache for most of the time because of the drastically reduced caffeine intake. (May also be liquid intake in general though. I’m not always good at drinking my water if I can’t have it tea-flavoured)

I am LOVING THIS!! I’m generally fairly wary of citrus in teas – it generally does not work for me. But this? This is glorious! Mellow and sweet but very well grounded in the rooibos base, the balance between the orange and vanilla is wonderful. I don’t normally drink my rooiboses with anything, especially the flavored and sweeter kinds, but this just begs for a splash of milk. Anyone else thinking of orange creamsicles? I know I’ll be going back for more, and quite soon too!

I do so like oranges. This one smells nice. The flavour is pretty much orange and currants. Good hot, but maybe better iced. I don’t really get much vanilla flavour, which would have been nice.

Dry Notes: bubblegum
Wet Notes: bubblegum again!

I am really loving this one. I wasn’t expecting it so much but man! It’s such a lovely flavour. I kept going back for more…I think I drank close to 5-6 cups of this in a day.

The flavour is amazing, nice and sweet, no bitterness at all and it smells amazing—essentials for a great tea. I can’t really say much more, you have to try it. I love it! Will definitely buy a tin!

Mmmmmmmmmm.

This tea is super delicious.

I feel like since I started on Steepster, I have been overusing the D word.

But it truly is delicious. I think I brewed it a little too strong, but it is still good. It tastes like rooibos but there is a delicate orange citrus taste to it. Not sour or tart orange, but sweet orange. It is sweet and tastes creamy. Maybe a slight hint of soft white chocolate, even though there is no ingredient in this tea to back that up.

To me, it has a very rooibos aftertaste, which is one of the things I do not like about rooibos, but I think that is in part due to brewing it too strong.

Got a sample of this. Really delicious rooibos. Great smell dry and wet. It was totally smooth and not overpowering on the taste. Orange creamcicle is the best way for me to describe it.

I tried this tea yesterday and wasn’t very impressed. It was too artificial & sickly sweet; the flavours of orange and vanilla didn’t seem to compliment each other in this blend. The aftertaste was okay, but the taste itself was again just sickening. Adding milk does help this tea, but definitely don’t add any sweetener!

Had a sniff of this in-store today and couldn’t resist. My brother and his fiancee are visiting from the DAVID-Deprived States of America, so we took them on a whirlwind tour of the local tea shops, including two different DTs. While they shopped and luxuriated in tea, I tried this new rooibos. As always, I was hesitant on grounds of overwhelming natural sweetness, especially given that all the major ingredients are also naturally sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised at the subtle, mellow flavour. It’s a nice bright tea without being overbearing, I really enjoyed it. Reminded me of the cooler days of summer. Immediately picked up 50g (I actually asked for 30g, but I think she misheard me – oh well! I’ll drink it.)
